Adam is going back to last years SP "Let Me Think About It"

https://twitter.com/fs_evolution/status/915925478912995328

According to Adam's Ice Talk, the switch was suggested back at Champs Camp. He is currently keeping both SPs and the new one will be used either in competition or in shows.

He is also changing the costume, so that's a win win if you ask me  He did say a lot of people were "offended" by his sleeveless top last year. I didn't like it, but offended? Who gets offended by such trivial things? Our society is doomed.

To offend even more, I would recommend to skate topless, or with a complete see through piece. Honestly, Adam Rippon nowadays is too camp for my personal taste. I much preferred the younger Rippon. But he can do whatever he likes, it is his career and his choice. Or did the judges tell him to tone it down? Ridiculous.

"Diamonds" was already a show program for him, just not the version he covered himself.

He said he was practicing both SPs and will decide later if he will use the new Diamonds in competition or in shows. He said we would see/hear it eventually.

Point completely missed but proceed. :palmf:

Let me spell it out for you: You aren't telling me anything monumental that I don't already know. What I was telling you is that if he were to use it as an exhibition/show program, he's done it before all last Spring in Stars on Ice and at ITNY, and it won't be anything groundbreakingly different other than his own singing used in the place of Josef Salvat.

Ice Rabbit I'm sorry, I still don't follow. Could you spell out in more detail?

Don't worry, pearly.
Yesterday I listened to Adam on IceTalk, but had not posted about it, so I am glad that you did. :thank:

Among other things, I did find it interesting that Adam explicitly kept the door open to a later switch to Diamonds as a competition program this season.
And that he clearly enjoyed talking about recording his own cover and also said (I'm paraphrasing) that at the very least, the effort that he put into his own cover would pay off in future performances of Diamonds as an exhibition.

Your contributions to this thread stand, no matter what additional comments others want to share.

Alexander Petrov is now skating his SP to Sabre Dance - thank goodness! The infernal medley is gone!

Why so many repeating programs? I said a couple of time on the Forum that in general I don't like skaters to keep programs from the previous season. I am okay of course that skaters from less powerhouse countries to keep them bacause they can't renew programs every season due to lack of funding. But top-tier skaters, who obviously are aiming for an Oly medal? I hope not. I am not for top skaters to keep them, esp when they already skated great at competitions the season before, and except injury/illness or any other reasons stopped them from skating them greatly one more time at big competitions such as Euro/Worlds. Skating to the same music, same choreographies, same expressions, etc. that already have been skated for hundred-th times; skaters themselves may get bored in the end, so may judges and fans. Bringing back programs from 2/3 season ago would be better, at least for me.

Chaplin 2.0, Seimei 2.0, Chopin 3.0, Turandot 2.0, Edith Piaf 2.0, POTO 2.0...
Is Javi and Yuzuru's goal an Oly medal? No, both are only aiming for the Olympic Champion I thought. I agree Seime is Yuzuru's best FP so far and really a good choice of music for the Olympics where millions of casual viewers/fans will see thru TV. But a little risky since his out-of-this-world Seimei at GPF in 2015 is still fresh to everyone incl Yuzu himself. If he's to miss opening jumps 4Lz/4Lo, he thinks too much on how to revamp jump layout later because he can perfectly sell choreographies even in his sleep, as we saw it at the recent Autumn Classic a few weeks ago. There are many many other beautiful piano pieces by Chopin which Yuzuru can make another masterpiece any given day.
As for Shoma's Turandot, my feeling is the same when I heard Yuzu would skate to Parisian 2.0+Romeo/Juliet 2.0 four years ago; 'it's his first Oly Games, he's still young, he's vastly improving every season, why old programs? why not challenge the reigning world champion with two brand new progrmas?' But a part of me can understand why Team Shoma wants to bring it back because of disappointing results at the worlds in Boston. Placing 7th at his first showing isn't shabby as all though. Hopefully not the same 4.5 minutes of Turandot; some new music cut added/changed, different step sequences and no Pavarotti vocal, please. It's not like Turandot=Pavarotti automatically, Domingo is probably the better among the Three Tenors, and personally I'd prefer Carreras version at his prime (before illness). These are the bottom line for me. I haven't seen his new FP yet, am looking forward to Japan Open tomorrow.

Anyway, I hope skaters will skate them beautifully, let me forget they are old programs and make me :luv17::rock::party2: with their performances. And my sincere wish to every skaters a great and injury-free season! :)

In my original Bingo Card, Tango de Roxanne was a warhorse in itself, in its awesome but lonesome glory. It was when I started realizing how many people were using Moulin Rouge music, including Tango de Roxanne, that I joined the two for this list. I added a link to SnowWhite's breakdown of MR song choices to the spreadsheet, so if people come across it they can find out exactly how alike or how different the Moulin Rouge choices in these skater's programs are.

Very cool. :agree:

Edit: I remember skipping a junior skater recently on this list who I thought was using the Sting version of Roxanne (finally, something different!), only to find out his version was the same Roxanne as everyone else's. :palmf:

 Sting would be a refreshing change ... but if it took you some time to figure it out, maybe not. :)

No, no, the the Sting version of Roxanne was what was in his ISU profile and what Ted also said the boy was skating to. Then he came out with MR's Roxanne instead.

A lot of updates of ISU bios of skaters at Finlandia, yielding some new info about programs.

Here's the Finlandia dancers:

Ohh i love that program! I am looking forward to seeing more of it. I re-watch it a lot actually.

Me too! I happened to watch a bunch of the Finlandia clips before I caught up with this thread, and I was thrilled when Adam's "old" SP music came on. (And quite suprised!)

oh, okay. :) I believe I'm sleep deprived. :bed:

The Olympic season definitely stresses everyone out, even Evgenia. All the repeats and programme switches, seems like the skaters have difficulty knowing what they want to do.

On another note, I prefer the AK programme to the Leftovers, a bit different than her other programmes these last years. But neither of the programmes make me feel anything, except admiration for the technical content.

It is indeed different from what she did these past few seasons. The original 17/18 LP brought them the result - she won at Nepela. I wonder what made them to change it.
