Her last big competition was JGP in 2012 and then nothing until 2016. If I had to guess, I'd say she took time for university and came back this summer; there's two small competitions from the last few months. A great return for sure.

When I read your post after writing mine, I thought "Yes! That sounds highly plausible".

But then I looked up Natasha's Stats On Ice Bio:

There wasn't any break in her competing. She just wasn't getting the results needed to be a contender for international slots.

Oh wow, thanks for checking stats on ice. I didn't think to check there since she had an ISU bio. Yikes... I wonder why she suddenly leaped into contention? Clearly whatever she's doing is working. Of course, it's still possible that she did take some time for university and trained less during that period, which would make some sense if she now has more time to devote? Hm, a mystery. I'm glad you caught that though!

Emmi is national champion and she has the best SB of the Finnish ladies, so she deserves her place at Euros. Finland federation has rules: The best SB season will be count. Viveca was third at nationals, while Jenni Saarinen was 2nd, but she too has better SB than Saarinen. Probably Emmi is the one who will seen at worlds, but if someone beats the points she just got and Emmi does not beat those herself, so it is not sure yet that Emmi will be there. But Jenni is recovering after her break and step by step she is including difficult elements to her programs, so we will see.
