2017 Four Continents Men FS

Breaks my heart that we might not see Misha skate competitively after Worlds. I know he has ongoing injuries, but I had hoped he'd try for one more Olympics.

Misha:clap: I'd trade fewer quads for more of his (and Jason's) quality of skating anyday.

I suppose it would. But I was thinking next year.

I think Nathan is just trying to test the new layout he will use in the Olympic season. At least this means he won't feel pressured to win due to being in the lead.

Why are they announcing him as Mischa Geee? Isn't his father Chinese? That G in his last name should be pronounced as in Go, and the "e" is more like "er".
Unless the Gee pronunciation is something he agreed to..

A similar case: Han Cong's name tends to be mispronounced a lot too, as Kong rather than Tsong. P J Kwong got it right here but I remember the North American commentators kept calling him Kong Han at Worlds last year.

I sort of wish Nathan wouldn't cram so much tech into his program, even if it IS impressive should he manage to land it all. I was massively impressed at Nationals, but it still wasn't my favorite program since it just didn't feel balanced to me.

This is a competitor's move. Whether he hits this crazy layout or not, it is bound to get in the competition's head as they all round the bend to worlds.

They'll have to wonder if he's going to do this layout at World's. They'll be wondering if they have to up their own tech content. They'll have to wonder if they can. He'll be in their head.

Even floating that this layout as a potential layout right before they skate at 4CC is a competitor's move.

====.....>>>>> searching the mute button on my computer <<<<<<<<<<<<<....======== i don't like "opera" in figure skating... never seen a skater really managing it... it disturbs me so much...

Even without the modifications, it still doesn't feel balanced, though. He'll be in their head, but it's just TOO tech heavy for me, even if it is impressive.

He's said he is retiring?

Yes, in social media Misha has implied this may be his last year; he has hurt his ankle many times trying to up his tech, from what he says.

His choreographic work has been in demand. I believe he will have a great career as a choreographer so we can continue to enjoy his artistic talents.

Which is why the other guys have to ignore it and do their own thing... hard as it might be.
