re Nathan : he also was awarded level 4 for many of his non-jumping elements which during the grand prix didn't get rewarded that highly... either he has improved them drastically or us nationals tech panel was kind.... so with bigger GOE and PCS you get a lot more points for Nathan at US nationals than potentially what he usually scores internationally....

However, maybe the international judges will follow up on this.. who knows?

I also think that it's a bit soon to assume that Nathan will always repeat his stellar performance. Even Yuzu since last year, with two stellar back to back performances hasn't been steady since then....

Totally agree. However, I would add given their skating this season it's impossible to know how the Big 3 are going to skate either. Nathan has beaten Patrick Chan twice already this year, he beat Javi at the Grand Prix final, and came close to beating Yuzuru. I think if the Big 3 are all on their game, they will still beat him. But, we haven't seen them go clean consistently in a while. If they leave the door open, Nathan will likely go through it. Plus, Shomo could be a spoiler. Men's skating has really grown and become more exciting the past few years.

First are the various strategies he, Yuzu, Shoma, et al might have. If Yuzu's main goal is to win Worlds, he may not be peaking now and Nathan and others could beat him, especially if Nathan simply wants to win everything in sight and force the judges to take even more notice of him. On the other hand, if Yuzu wants to put upstart Nathan - who beat him in the FS at GPF - back in his place prior to Worlds, the competition may play out quite differently. Nathan himself may dial back a bit and just aim to medal - not necessarily win - if his real goal is to peak for and win Worlds.

The other factor is the judging.

This is going to be a real interesting competition either way. It is in the Olympic Venue, exactly one year before the Olympic event, so basically the same time in the season. The clever strategy should be to try to have a similar season this year already, to peak at the right time. Of course, Yuzuru has been sick in between, but I think to see who will win this 4CC could be some sort of indicator. Who is peaking in mid-february? It's kind of more important than Worlds, in a way.

I hope Julian Yee will attempt the 4S. Saw his practice clip. Seems his air position is better compared to last year. So many cats were sacrificed for him to land his jumps last year.

I hope Brendan tries and lands everything. Just because I want to see what the judges would do with that.

I do quite feel Yuzuru will skate at 4CC as if it were the GPF before the Olympics. The venue, the timing, the fact that there is a serious rival from outside his own rink and country. He'll be fired up to the max. If he's healthy enough I get the feeling we'll be seeing NHK15 or GPF15 Yuzuru.

I only feel for Han Yan because he can't grab a bronze in this field. Will still appreciate his beautiful skating.

Actually, Nathan had higher levels in his free skate at the GPF than he did at U.S. Nationals. Two level 4s and two level 3s vs. 2 level 4s, 1 level 3, and 1 level 2 at Nationals. In the short program, he did receive two level 3s at TdF and NHK, while he received 4s in the short at Nationals. So, in general, the spin levels are a question mark for Nathan. But the difference in overall levels at Nationals was only a sum total of one level higher nationally than he has earned at his best internationally. A difference of one level for one spin. Not drastic by any means.

The question I have is with his PCS which seemed very generous at the Nationals, seeing he spent most of his program time setting up his jumps. Will international judges be as generous? I suspect his PCS will be somewhat overscored, but by how much? Will it be significant enough to make a difference in a tight race?

Four of Nathan's non-jump elements are positioned as the last four elements of the FS programme after all the 8 jump passes have been completed. He must be poofed by the time he completed the 8th pass.

The construction of his FS next season has little room for error. The rest duration would need to be just the right length, not too long and not too short if he wants to be able to reach level 4 in all 5 spins and steps.

Nathan did seem to have a massive progression in PCS as the season went on.

NHK Trophy: 84.06
GPF: 84.42

I also think +GOE was pretty generous at Nationals -- but that was for everyone, not just Nathan, so that's will influence how he will score.

i recall a competition where he got much lower levels... perhaps his first GP outing? as we know at worlds, we could have a stricter panel for levels.... same at 4cc... but we will see...tech panel or not, we can see the spins are weak

Zijun claims she was just showcasing herself in the frame behind him and Boyang counters the person in the frame is ugly and is there to contrast his beauty.

He complained that he was so lovable yet she bullied him by lying about deleting the picture but instead posting it in the middle of the night. He demanded compensation for emotional damage. She teased him about missing his beauty sleep and he blamed her for upsetting him too much for sleep. Then she claimed she just posting her own picture.
