That's awesome. I think we should all choose a "sticky" quote and stick with it.![]()
My favorite figure skating quote was from Shizuka Arikawa: "Blacking out was a good thing. By the time I came to I was halfway through my program."

In 3f3t also? 3s3T is obvious, especially that it is in the second part and she is losing her stamina
Yesss! Check out some youtube replays in slowmo (with 0.25 speed). She lifts up into the jump when the first rotation is already completed on the ice.
Evgenia Medvedeva is not a star because of her technique on spins, jumps or steps. She has so much self-confidence and faith in herself that she almost never fails. This is what makes her a star: consistency, stamina, work ethic, self confidence. And when you are self confident you can shine with your personality.
Not sure where to put this since there's no video thread (?) yet for this event. But either way, just finished doing a Protocolled video for Carolina Kostner's gorgeous short program.

I went away. I had a nap. I made supper and I come back to find you guys still arguing about Evgenia and Caro. If nothing else I admire the stamina of some of you folks.
For all on all sides: I find it funny to see that some of you think this board is pro-Evgenia. Unless some of you are new or some the most fervent Evgenia haters have left I'd say this board is pretty divided on her. Just as we are divided about a lot of skaters. Some people are just a little more defensive about their favourites than others. If it really bothers you there is always the option of putting them on your list.

This is one of the best programs I have seen in figure skating, ever.

Thanks for that. You have directly hit on the content of 99% of my posts. This was a perfect blablablabla message. You said a lot without saying anything.
I get it. Of course you , people here are divided about a lot of skaters. But I didn noticed that others not-fans of particular skater were so offended.Insulting words, they re making you into the troll who is nobody here and treating like trush. Sorry i fell like that, because i dare to not see fabolous skating by Zhenia

What a wonderful event it was! I am so sad to have to be in Sochi and miss it live.
Most of the people were skeptical about bringing Mikhailova here. But she delivered. And if she can deliver tomorrow again with the total of 190+ she might start building her competitive future in the toughest field of Russian ladies. CSKA desperately needs someone to support Radionova and Sotskova, otherwise Eteri's domination is going to be humiliating.
I liked Kaori, may be for the first time. She improved a lot compared with the previous season when she was "yet another boring young Japanese skater". Her program is very fresh packed with transitions, with backloading and beautiful spins. May be her team not only looks at Eteri's success but also try to do their homework.
Wakaba's strength this season is her FS. I just could not get all the whining here about her pcs. 33 is very appropriate. I would argue about Mikhailova's 28 and Kaori's 30 but not Wakaba's 33. Lower than Radionova's 34? I think that Elena today had one of the best if not the best SP since quite a while. If it were not for the shaky landing on the combo I would see her well above 70. There is a home turf argument as well. But in this particular case I don't see any homeflation. Let's see what we shall have in Japan.
Mirai might wish to drop 3A if she is serious about Olympics or she has to improve dramatically. She can be a "3A girl" which is a feat on its own as she is one of the kind in the current senior field so far. But it does not bring a lot of points if not rotated and it apparently drags her strength to do standard jumps. Then with 3A her scores may not be enough to get to the team. Let's see tomorrow.
Carolina was better today than during earlier competitions this season. She did 3-3 and was very connected to the music with beautiful arms and impressive blade control. She looked more confident and her score is quite deserved (unlike in Finlandia and Lombardia).
And of course Zhenya is divine as one the users here call themselves. This is one of the best programs I have seen in figure skating, ever. I was speechless watching it live at test skates. Screen does not bring the same emotions. But I could see that she skated today even better. She is perfect in this program. Let's see tomorrow. I was not convinced by her Anna Karenina the first time I saw it. May be I am going to change my mind.
Kudos to judges - very adequate this time.
And kudos to sportbox that has saved and kept the stream so that I could watch it in full tonight.
Are people really sad to be in Sochi? I always thought the black sea area was one of the most beautiful in Russia. *cat is sitting on my hands making typing difficult*
You have to realize the relentlessness of her detractors. They've started thread after thread where they criticize everything about her and then get all salty when people get fed up with it and call them out. Not me....I think it's hilarious the way some obsess over it.
I'd be lying if I said she wasn't the most dominating competitor the sports seen in decades. It's nice she doesn't need the PCS cushion to do it with inferior tech too. Makes it more official. Thank you CoP.
You know that she is nothing special? She is just first of many russians who skates that way..She is just first. In 5 years there will be plenty of russians, ones with better TES, others with better artistry.l

This is a natural born talent that Evgenia has. If you gave all that mental strength to Katarina Toeloop Kostner she would not compete anymore because she would have already been a two-time Olympic medallist.
) Kostner had the mental strengh, as you said, she'd be a THREE time Olympic medalist and multi world champ. She made her worlds debut (and won bronze) in 2005!
