If judges are coming this hard for URs this season I worry for Satoko, the injury probably hasn't helped her UR issues....

I have a lot of respect for Karen that she choreographs her own programs but she really isn't that good of a choreographer yet. She absolutely can be! Maybe taking some classes or studying different styles of dance will help her. But right now, it isn't cutting it. And I say this as somebody who adores her and finds her really impressive.

I absolutely agree and I think she has great innate musicality. But that doesn't translate into engaging skating choreography automatically.
She knows how to hold a spiral and make it a highlight, but that's the only notable thing about the program. I'd pick Carmen over this.

I like Karen, but it's fairly obvious this is a self-choreographed program.

While I agree with you, her Carmen program looked self-choreographed too (even though it apparently wasn't), so this is not necessarily a step back.
