2017 GP Skate Canada Ladies FS

The Canadian hatred is somehow hitting new lows. :slink:

Canadian skater does well: OVERSCORED!
Canadian skater doesn't do wel: OVERSCORED!

Canadian audience gave a standing ovation to marin and cheered on pogo after she fell: WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW RUDE THE AUDIENCE IS BEING!
*sigh* there's no winning.

Looking at the protocols I see our beloved Judge 6 is a bit more kind in giving out marks to all skaters, gave out 8.75s and 9s to Sotskova in PCS, was generally in the top end of PCS or in line.

Marin STILL slayed in my opinion. If only she had done better in the short! Cant I just turn back time? Please?

Her coach asked her what happened, when her legs seem to be so heavy does she try to clam down? And Anna answered: the more I try to calm down, the more nervous I am.

Maybe meditation or autogenous training might help? She needs a mental coach.

What a horrible event. Not only the winner was a disaster, and the main challenger had yet another meltdown, but this panel made absolute sure to give the middle finger to everyone else. How come Wagner's PCS suddenly dropped from 72+ to 67. Why everyone got strict calls on the jumps but Osmond.
Only in Canada.... what a freaking nightmare.

Yep. Cup of russia means overscore for Russia and it's expected, but Canadian nationals, i mean, skate canada means EXTREME OVERSCORING for Canada and extreme underscoring for other countries. Sad, just sad.

I know everyone hates repetition programs, but I really feel for Ashley. I wouldn't be surprised if her concussion history had something do to with it (like it doesn't with her spins). Learning new choreography must be a nightmare to learn for her.
She has said that she had difficulty remembering new programs and even basic things. [emoji31]

ANNA COACH TELLING HER IN kiss and cry : "I'm not coming to you anymore.Go to competitions yourself -alone. You should prepare better"

A bit meh that Wagner medalled with that skate...

Not at all. That's the way the competition is supposed to work. You do better than your competitors, you get a higher placement.

Ashley showed incredible fight and spirit all through that skate. She performed beautifully to the music, told the story, enchanted the audience, some of whom stood for her. She kept going for whatever she could. That is true valiance.

:yay: Ashley !!!

Her getting 67 PCS for a very soulless performance of a program she has performed far better before had quite a bit to do with her.

Ashley got one of the better reactions from the crowd, apparently her interpretation today resonated better than others.

OMG...what is with Anna. She is the one Russian lady skater that I enjoy. Really like her short and there's only a few programs that I will watch over again this season but I just can't...Just the worst luck or something.

Congrats to Ashley...wow that was some comeback.

ANNA COACH TELLING HER IN kiss and cry : "I'm not coming to you anymore.Go to competitions yourself -alone. You should prepare better"

Good lord. Get a better coach Pogo, that is not what you say to someone who is in physical and mental pain.

Well, Osmond should be still first, with or without stricter calls.
Objectively, she did least bad this evening

Sorry but no. Osmond should not have had 7 point lead after last night. And she should not have had the TES she got today. I agree she should have won overall but tonight the ones who did the least bad were Honda and Sostkova.
