of course, in a classic case of Murphy's Law, James skated early in the monstrosity of a men's SP, while I was still at work - and Katia and Harley will skate in the last group, which will be just after midnight and when I'd rather be in bed!

Still, I'll hang about .

Loved the way the Opening Ceremony finished.

The cermony had a "Sound Of Music" theme. As well as all the skaters with the flags, they had a group of skaters representing the von Trapp children.

The performance at the start was a medley consisting of the main theme, "My Favourite Things", "Edelweiss" and "Climb Every Mountain".

The performance at the end was to "So Long, Farewell".

So, when they reached the line "The sun has gone to bed and so must I", the wee tote lay down on the ice and closed her eyes as if she was sleeping. And one of the older girls came along, lifted her up and carried her off the ice. And then the wee girl started waving while being carried off.

OK start to the competition.

Never seen these two before. They weren't too bad.

But, Michael Jackson would be turning in his grave if he heard that version of "I Want You Back". It was awful.

Thank goodness the cuteness of everything else made up for it.

Again not most difficult, but no major mistakes

Solid skate from the Spanish team. Twist and throws, like the French team, will come with time, but they already have a semi-decent axel lift. TES lower than the French team as of the moment.

Wow! Didn't even realise that Consul had switched to Pairs. (Shows how much attention I was paying to the lower ranked skaters when doing my predictions)

And he's found himself a 13 year old Canadian to skate with. And they weren't bad.

Spain don't have any Senior Pairs at the moment, do they?

Unfortunately, because of Alexanne's age, it'll be a while until these two can compete at Senior level.

But, it is good to see the Spanish Federation making an effort to build their presence in all categories.

Nicely done from this German team! She's only 13! And I think they'll definitely beat their PB of 37ish for this.

Edit: Does anyone know how Germany funds their junior skaters? They're a bit young for the military exchange thing.
