2017 Philadelphia Summer Championships

Croatian guy (sorry I missed his name)
Voidy folk music

3?-2?, 3A hand down, 1F*. I don't think I've seen him before. He seems to sit right back on the heels of his blades which led to a terrifying moment in the middle where it looked like he was about to fall every time he moved.

Torgashev
In all black to a very piano music that I am sure I would recognise if I was more awake

1F*, 3A, 3Lz. Nice program for him, I think he's gotten taller, gives him more line.

Webb (?) Hong Kong
Sounds a lot like something Zimmer-y, but I can't place it. In grey velvet-effect shirt.

3F?, 3S-2T, I missed what he did for the Axel. Nice effort.

Alexander Johnson
in all black, I recognise this music but I can't for the life of me think of its name

3Lz, 3A, 3F 2ft-turn-2T. Wonky camel spin. Pretty good looking program for this early.

Vincent Zhou has "withdrawn for medical reasons". Hope he's okay.

It's our friend Donovan from Mexico!
In pinstripe pants and waistcoat with red back, red tie. Skating to something really jazzy and upbeat except I'm not so sure about the very realistic-sounding gunshots and machine-gun-fire.

3F-2T, 2A, 3Lz, sold the absolute heck out of it, what a delight.

Thanks to karne for play-by-play.

Unofficial scores for first two groups (if/if my ears heard correctly):

1 Max Aaron USA 74.00

2 Alex Johnson USA 73.14

3 Yaroslav Paniot UKR 72.42

4 Donovan Carrillo MEX 65.12

5 Sean Rabbitt USA 62.66

6 Andrew Torgashev USA 61.49 (SP music is Moonlight Sonata)

7 Nicholas Vrdoljak CRO 56.33 (second in start order)

8 Lincoln Yuen HKG 48.35 (fourth in start order)

9 Larry Loupolover AZE 47.74

Sorry about Vincent. :( :ghug:
(He did skate in the warm-up session a few hours ago. Even was in costume, I think? Sparkly top. Must have been a late decision to withdraw.)

Dang it. I wanted Max to go squeaky clean in this SP to send a message.

Still, it scored well, considering there was no combination and he took a fall penalty.

Onward and upward.

Oooh, yay for Alex Johnson for being so close to first, even with his jump mistakes. I love it when skaters get rewarded for the quality of their skating skills.

It's August. I'm not bothered.

Besides, seeing it not clean and seeing how amazing it was not clean only ramps up anticipation for the day that it is.

I believe I got this right. Max drew #8 for the short and #1 for the long.

Senior men have the short today from 3:35 until 5:15. Senior men have the long tomorrow evening from 6:40 until 8:45.

Where did you see that Senior Men's long is 6:40 to 8:45PM? On the schedule I saw it said International Ice was 2:30 to 8:45PM.
Thanks for your help.
I don't want to miss Max or Sean.

Max has a new fan - possibly potential uber. I expect to see more posts from you in his FF thread.

Word on the street is that Vincent Zhou has withdrawn for medical reasons: https://twitter.com/rockerskating/status/893569049631838208

According to Lynn Rutherford

.@govincentzhou warmed up at #PSIC17 but withdrew due to boot issues and painful blisters. 1/2
"We are being cautious," said Drew Meekins, who works w/Zhou. "It doesn't make sense to push it so early in the season." 2/2
