2017 World Ladies FS

I'm quiet because you guys are so fast. I watch, then I read, then I have to go back and watch again.

And I really want some lunch.

Impossible because judges.

Unless you screw really badly and judges are really happy to let you down, chances are you will finish ahead of the girls of the first group even with a bad skate, possibly even ahead of Xiangning which would be unfair imo.

That certainly wasn't true for the pairs.

Awrighty, now the real fun has started! Go Mihara, slay!
And it seems my bitching on twitter about the volume might have helped?!?! Volume was perfect from Mononoke Hime onwards!

Russian feed switched to Ice Dance but thank goodness NBCSN is covering the rest of the ladie's SP live!

Might just be because it's the ice resurfacing. When I watched the Russian feeds they did that and then went back when the Zamboni was done.

I loved its simplicity, the airy jumps and light steps, and no contrived facial expressions... just nice. Easy to love.

That's exactly why I love her skating. In addition to that, it's hard to see because she skates so light, but she skates so fast:luv17:

High score for Mai. Judges reward clean jumps and it's great that she got redemption - I expected no less, she's been a force to be reckoned with all season. I can't really get 'into her' artistically though.

Neither can I. She still has a ways to go on that end for me but she is charming. And what a jumper!

The score is kind of generous though wow 63 PCS for a season debut... make up for the short?! rather Shomaesque in scoring.

We are in for some new WR inflation?!! Goodness!

Yeahh Karen in American flag scarf... praying for you!!!

In a world where Zijun get 49, i just think EVERYONE IS OVER MARKED!!! ARGHHH....

not impossible but their combined slay count is huge.... let's assume the russians are consistent.... and only those 3 place ahead, then japan is 4-5... =9. you see where i am going with that? one skater ahead both 5-6.... two skaters 6-7... so 3 skaters ahead of both means 7-8....

there are several ways where things could get in between of course from 1-12 to the 6-7 but again, with the 3 russians.... it's hard to imagine wakaba can be ahead of any of these 3.

Yes you are right. That's why I said a tiny glimmer of hope. One one hand I wish they do it but on the other it means that a lot of the next skaters would bomb and I don't want that...

waiting for her to break 140 next season. her PCS def can improved and her TES already high even though she didn't do that much of backloading and other stuff too.

I once watched a TV segment about coach Sonoko Nakano in which it was mentioned that her skating school was like life coaching. She wants her students to do well not just in skating, but in life in general. It's interesting that coach Sonoko Nakano's students, Mai and Kaori all look like their love for skating is greater than their fear and disappointment, even though they still have a lot of room to improve artistry wise.

Oh, and those PCS. I decide to temporarily overlook them otherwise I'd fall into a comma. There are zillions of ways to justify PCS to fit a certain narrative.

Loved the shot of Ashley warming up backstage! She was serious, focused, and also able to laugh and smile at someone just off camera. Very endearing.:luv17:
