2017 World Ladies SP

Nice skate by Elizabeth, but I find this program, while cute, very juniorish. Of course, her size (which she can't help) and packaging (which she can) don't help matters. She has great musicality, but I am not a fan of her jump technique.

Go Lil Bet go!!!!

I hope she goes for the 4s-3t in the free!! I also hope she skates to DMX next year :)

Elizabet!!! SO petite but so energetic and rhythmic!!

Except the slight hesitance to the Loop jump and a slow sp at the end, it was the best performance from her.
This is choreographed by someone who knows her so well. ( love the story David Wilson told at the TSL interview) Good Job David and Orser! Her mom is ... so happy.. ;)

Ahem, say what you will about Amano, but at least that guy has the nerve to be enemy of every skating fan. Others are too inconsistent in rotation call that it's so mind bogging.

Shin Amano's judging on the rotation of Mao's 3A is as consistent as Mao's 3A itself. (i.e. not that consistent :laugh2:)

Elizabet Tursynbaeva:

A completed 3Lz+3T, 3Lo, and 2A. She gets the rotation, tho her jumps aren't all that high. Fairly fast in the spins. No mistakes from what I can tell, and mainly around the +1 GOE area for all her elements.

I'm surprised she wasn't as animated at the beginning of the program. She was very serious and stern going into the opening combo. She will need to have fuller movements in the future because she's so small in stature. She's still quite young tho. Her mother is more excited that she is, lulz. :D

They should have made Satoko go with a promise of a spot for her next year. New Rule: highest finish at previous world gets an Olympic spot.

No one should oblige any skater (especially an injured one) to participate in any event. If she is not here, it means that she was advised by doctors to be off the ice. Health must come first. Even with two spots, I don't see anyone challenging Satoko for a spot. Mai bombed here and Mao is a wild card. Wakaba is inconsistent, Rika is on a downhill spiral. Even if Marin and Kaori Sakamoto will shine next year as seniors, they won't send 2 newly seniors to the Olympics. I am almost sure that the team will be Satoko + someone (my guess - Marin if she has a good debut as a senior)

Not enough clapping along with Elizabet!

I was also hoping for more Brian-cam, I like it when he practically jumps along with his skaters.

And I'm not sure if the lady with them in the Kiss and Cry is Elizabet's mother but she's more excited then Elizabet!

Seeing how judges loves Karen Chen, if she gets her sht together in FS, you know USFS will get behind her 100% next season. Gonna be trouble for the Grandmas.

Karen is like lottery. U either win big or you leave empty handed thinking that money could have been for milk. USFS likes her a lot. If she delivers, they will go to town for her.

I know she was injured. But she is still a lot better than these lots, injured or not. She just can't do 3lutz-3toe. Could do everything else.

I'm uncomfortable with the thought that Satoko should have been forced to go while injured, regardless of how she could have scored/what she can or can't do elements wise. It is very important if you are an injured athlete to take time to recover and get the treatment you need in order to avoid further more serious injury. I don't think Satoko should have had to risk her own health and long term career (not to say anything of her long term general health) just to get Japan 3 spots for the Olympics. OF COURSE everyone hopes they will get 3 spots, and sure, in some sense it would benefit Satoko too to have them, but not if her career is over because she aggravated an injury or she's still walking with a limp at age 50. If someone is injured they are injured. That's life. They shouldn't have to risk their health. They are more than just a tool to get maximum points, they are a PERSON.
