2018 GP Helsinki Ladies Short Program

Viveca Lindfors (FIN)

Hard turn-out on the 3Lz (looked good in the air). Hand-down on the 3F but managed a 2T afterward. Nice catchfoot forward change of edge in the flying spin. Edges and turns could be clearer in the step sequence (Level 2). A bit loose in the air on the 2A but fine on the landing. Good combo spin and fair layback spin, could have more speed overall.

I think Emmi has better artistic impression but Lindfors has good speed and expression to Phantom of the Opera.

Replay: 2A looks a bit <. She might get a V on the combo spin for not achieving three rotations after the change of foot, we'll see.

Second coffee going on, still working (at least pretending to) until 6 PM here. Dinner still ahead - egg/tuna/sweet corn and mozzarella salad with pickles:), sigh about Viveca...Hopefully she'll bring back mojo in free.

Kesha has had a really hard life over the past few years and has kind of transformed herself and her music, from my limited understanding? (Husband is a big pop music fan.) "Praying" is new Kesha.

She sued her producer to get out of her contract with Sony (because he's alleged to have sexually assaulted her though she didn't have enough proof that would stand up in court) and it didn't go well for her. She doesn't have to work with him directly anymore (Sony for some odd reason wouldn't let her out of that at first) but he still gets a cut of her revenue.

I think it's a good vehicle for Wang but my girl needs to get it together. Hoping Ravi can work some magic long term.

Did anybody have a better SS than level 2? :scratch2:

Wait for protocols. Medvedeva gained a level in her step sequence after review. If URs are called and StSq level raised, we can’t really tell if there was a StSq level change from the ice to when scores are announced.

When someone has a Level 4 on ice, I’ll definitely post, as usual. It’s my personal unicorn hunt. [emoji23]

I found it difficult to watch surreptitiously at work too, until I realized I should just schedule my outbound emails while the competition is ongoing. :p
Though NBC sport gold refuses to shrink without cutting off the edges beyond 900 pix wide, which is vexing.

I do have to say that the first groups of pairs and ladies for this event have been... well, let's just say that I wouldn't skip work to watch them. :( Hoping for better skates from this second group.

I want to see Alina, I‘m already nervius, why is eurosport showing me ronnie o‘sullivan ... what

I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I had ever made

I LOVE :love:Lindfors' music! Yes, I know, I'm in the minority. All the more reason to speak up. The reason skaters use warhorses, IMO, is usually because they work. This music is melodic and emotionally powerful.

I do wish Viveca could have done as well as she did at the B, I think it was Finlandia wasn't it. She's a beautiful skater and makes the most of her "leggy" look.

Eurosport is showing adverts... is there a break or what?

Second flight is being introduced then they have their warmup, so Eurosport is taking the opportunity to show what good capitalists they are!

When they say there's no business like show business, they really do mean business!

:drama:

Dasha doesn‘t quite sell the program yet. She seems very tense. Her score was lower than I personally would have expected but it‘s not too unfair. Overall, the harsh judging continues. Will be interesting to see whether it holds up to the final group or not.

I don't say her PCS should be somehow skyrocketing, but nearly 4 points lower than Peltonen? Even Wang had slightly higher PCS with all the mistakes that should be projected into PCS too.

If past GP events this season are predictive, this means the men should have a clean short, the women and pairs a much stronger free, and the men a splatty free... I’ll take it.
