You know, I'd really like Alina to win Worlds this year (not just so that I can get on the bandwagon early and be happy with the result) if only so that she can get the weight to assert some independence and personality in her program choices. Skating to warhorse after warhorse, I have no idea what type of music or style Alina herself would skate to.

I mean, I guess she might just really enjoy warhorses genuinely. But I have so little idea about her personality, I'd like to see her break out a bit and build something of her own style. Her EX this year is a good start at showing more range and personality- I'd just like to see more.

I don't say her PCS should be somehow skyrocketing, but nearly 4 points lower than Peltonen? Even Wang had slightly higher PCS with all the mistakes that should be projected into PCS too.

Emmi was quite good, though and she’s at home, that’s always a bonus. Listen, I like Dasha and I would want her to medal. But I don‘t think the score it‘s too unfair. It‘s definitely low but not as low that I would scream robbed!! I hope she can show a good FS.

No, they shouldn’t. PCS isn’t meant to punish skaters twice for technical errors, just as it shouldn’t serve as an extra reward across all components (PE, IE for a clean skate — sure, but SS, CO, and TR shouldn’t fluctuate as much from competition to competition).

Wang had stronger basic skating skills, more commitment to what she executed, and an actual programme. I have nothing against Daria, but that was not a programme or a performance. At most, it was a series of elements that had no relationship to each other. The layout and the music aren’t on speaking terms, there was no performance or interpretation of the music, etc. And skaters who go early will receive lower PCS than those who go later, despite IJS allegedly solving that issue, but it is what it is. Taking everything into account: her scores are fine.

(I do not think this is what she’s capable of, as I believe she’s injured. But she did not deserve higher PCS.)
