I thought Rika had a very solid solid skate after the fall. Her jumps were great, I love her rippon Lutz and her skating is beautiful. This is not my favorite program from her but I’m warming up to it. She’s performing really well, she holds some lovely positions, it’s just a very pretty program! Also, her spins improved! I specially love her layback, so centered!!!

I thought the new scoring system was designed to make skaters who are clean do better. Lil Bet was clean, Rika was not. And what's up with Polina's score?
We had better see some good free skates from the Russian ladies tomorrow... they all need to position themselves well on the GP seeing what the younger skaters have already done.

Yes, but the new system was also designed to reward quality and the elements completed well by Rika were superior to the ones completed by Elizabet. Also, maybe, level difference in the Step Sequence and obviously the base value: Rika fully rotated her 3A, and then she did 3F-3T and 3Lz in the 2nd part of the program. The BV, even calculating the fall on the 3A, is still bigger for Rika.

It’s not designed to make cleaner skates score higher, it’s designed to reward quality.

Rika has better jumps even though she fell on the 3A. Better speed. Better flow. Better height and landings.

She also had much better speed throughout. I’m sure the difference will be in the GOE.

Personally I find Lil Bet air position quite bad, both her legs are always bent and has a gap between her knees. So even doing a rippon won’t get her the good air position bullet.

Yeah that was a hammer score, she looked tired after it (beginning of the season and all that), she has room to grow. Rally girl, rally....Go for it on the FS.

Gubanova’s scores have deflated and now Polina seems to be further regressing. Thanks CSKA

Results are up yet but Lil Bet is less than a point behind Rika, I'd say that for her at this point this is a huge score and she is showing growth. Rika fell on the 3A but had an otherwise great program, I'm not found of that music but I'm found of her and she is trying to work it so well. Seeing her that happy was great.

Too bad for the 3A, but yay 70+ for Rika. So without the fall it would have been 74+ at least. Big score.
Yay for Lib Bet. They could have give her that 0,01 point!! She would have been in the 70+ zone

I found it more boring first time I watched it. Now I kinda like it?? [emoji23]

Agree with everything. I’m not sure why this program doesn’t do much for me but in spite of my personal feelings toward it.....she performs it very well. It’s not like it’s a bad program either or that I don’t like it.....just kind of underwhelming musically with no real charm. I hope it grows on me as many programs do but regardless.......I think she is going to have a very strong year.

Thank you for the review. Seems like (adult) skaters can grow under Eteri, after all, despite some predictions

i mean every season among japanese girls a few girls always have to be chosen as the sacrificial lambs who gets to suffer through a boring david wilson program! this year it's Rika's and Mai's SPs
