2018 Olympic Figure Skating Pairs FS

Yuzurudaughter should embrace her extraness and tell the coach so.
(I'm a terrible influence)

Indeed you are. In more ways than one.

I think she could pull it off, to be honest.

Her second choice is the Micmacs OST. I could get behind that’s too. I feel like that music would require a zebra-esque French costume.

The tech box elements aren't looking good for the German pair!

It's a shame Harley/Katia didn't make it! Their free program is so good! (Interesting note, a few weeks back I saw they were practicing a quad twist! Definitely srs bsns those two!)

Still, I'm sure the German team will get better!

Prokofiev's R&J is underused at this point. Wish we saw programs to that version more often now...

Really guys. I am trying really hard to not sleep but i am thinking of the 1 hour at least of patience till the last two groups. I am drinking cofee , hear brain enhancement music , study pharmacology and still i am afraid i wont get to watch the last two group. Any desperate advice ???:sad4:
Stop studying pharmacology and that should perk you up.

Hocke / Blommaert

Hard crash in the opening triple twist. Hocke only doubled the first 2T in the 3T+2T+2T attempt. Very rough entry in the first lift, so they won't have a high level on it. Good throw triple loop, and a good tuck into the back-inside death spiral. Nice entries (brackets I believe) into the clean sbs 2A. Sbs spins very far apart and a bit out of sync. Better rotation in their axel lasso lift, but hand-down in their throw triple salchow. Two-foot landing on the last lift and an alright multidirectional combo spin.

I think Hocke has a lightness to her movements that portrayed Juliet quite nicely, but Blommaert was fairly stiff and emotionless in the program so the Romeo part of the relationship was lacking. They were quite rough in the first few elements and that somewhat carried through the performance.

Hocke/Blommaert so ice that they made it to the final in their first year together.

You can clearly see the difference to the others in the long

I see a lot of potential in this team, especially her. Very pleasant.

Sit up straight while watching, and take a little walk during the replay or the warm up.

That heart at the beginning has to have been some of that "help from Aliona" they've gotten on choro. It just seemed so her.

These two are not too bad for such a new pairing. Far from a perfect skate but they had some nice moments.

What a terrible shame that Peng/Jin and Alexandrovskaya/Windsor were cut off at the knees so we can see the mistakes by some of these other pairs in the fp. When will the ISU wake-up and learn how to nurture and grow the sport and appreciate the skaters, and expand the pairs qualifiers to a reasonable number to accommodate the discipoline's depth? Blommaert is just as stiff and barely there as he was in the sp, while Hocke does all the performing. :disapp:

I mean this team is also very very young. She is only 17. (I believe) They have things to work on because they just teamed up this year. But, I think this LP is quite nice. Not performed well today, but they also have potential just like Peng/Jin and A/W. I am not sure why you would want to encourage those teams and discourage this one. Better to just increase the number of pairs allowed in the long program.

I read this as zebra-esque Stephane Lambiel costume

Alexa and Chris dedicated their skate to the victims of the Florida shooting... It must be hard for them, especially because they train in Florida.
I agree with Terry. This all seems kind of silly in retrospect.

Are the army of beauties here today? The PRK skaters seemed to get a very normal cheer, not the house rumbler of yesterday.

Download an air horn app. Or use a real air horn.

She has braces! The whole program she looked like she was edentulous until they finally showed a close up. That's all I could see. Not to be mean.

My mom had braces in her early 20s, it’s not that unusual, though most get them as preteens.

Annika is only 17! She doesn't turn 18 until July.

I had my braces until halfway through Senior year of high school (so about that age!)
