2018 Olympic Figure Skating Pairs FS

Considering how happy (I am) with this result, I'm terrified for the rest of the fields - I feel a terrible storm brewing for my faves....:( because this is how figure skating likes to torment me - give me one good event and the others be devastating to the point I have to stop watching

Just rewatched the last group and the ending and I am really glad they showed the backstage for so long, those happy emotions were awesome to see.

NBC, are you kidding me???? You showed just six Pairs????? And you chocked the Canadian's FS scores????? You call that coverage?
You didnt even show the Americans or North Koreans?
Badly done. I hope ABC or someone else gets the Olys next time.
May the fleas from a thousand camels infest Tara and Johnny's room.

Now I am really scared about what they will do with icedance, mens and ladies....... :eeking:

There is only one thing that saddened me: Tarasova bursting into tears in the K&C when she realized they had missed the podium. The cameras thankfully cut away very quickly after. As much as I disliked Candyman, she and Vlad are a gorgeous pair and this was a heartbreaking experience. They will rebound and be brilliant in 2022.

One thing to keep in mind: they missed the individual medal this time, but they should be very proud of their team medal! They delivered in that event.

That makes my heart ache knowing how many people were probably clapping and cheering that they failed.

I hope the haters are very proud of themselves, the shades of pairs skating aren't polluted by a fun-filled program with pep.

WOW !!! the gold for Aljona/Bruno is TOTALLY DESERVED, even if gained just by an half point :thank:

I was cheering for Sui/Han for the gold and happy by the italian pairs result, before the last group begin to skate, but after that program… DAMN, i was just crying rivers for Aljona :sad21:  :sad4:

I’m also so happy for Duhamel/Radford. Before the competition this bronze seamed to me more like a dream, and also because of that awful candyman

What a splendid competition we have see, WOW !!! :hap93:

Marchei and Hotarek have been on fire this whole Olympics. Their programs were beautifully skated, elements flawless, performances immaculate. I am thrilled to see Valentina with so much joy. Bravo to them! What a way to go out!

NBC’s coverage was despicable. They didn’t even show OUR ONE COMPETITOR! Really?!!! That’s traitorous to me. And they built up the Italian team and NK team only not to show them either. Nor did they show Yu and Zhang’s SP, despite this being his 5th Olympics too and in medal contention.

Plus I always enjoy fluff, where was the fluff? Where are the interviews and the glimpses of their hometowns and families? Their journeys? Booooo hisssss to NBC.

100% agree, they need to get back to classical. They are a classical team and they should take advantage of that. Different teams have different styles, like James and cipres can never do classical programs like Rachmaninov concerto 2 or Chopin nocturnes/preludes. I really think tarasova and morozov can achieve great things with classical.

Is there time for them to go back to an old program for world's. Honestly 4th isnt bad and the top 4 teams really are amazing. They truly are a huge step ahead of the rest. Nothing against the Italians, French and the lower level Chinese and Canadian teams and Korean team. I would add Stolbova and Klimov to the top echelon. I really applaud those five teams - really awesome.

However, did you ever go on T/M instagram ? Because I've seen hundreds of comments begging them to drop that FS. Look at GPF it just imploded and the truth ? There was a concern that might transfer on to Olympic ice and that they become a laughable joke which would be unfair because they are Gold Medal calibre. That FS was truly wrong (at least change the costume), and I hope they'll regroup, they are still young. People here aren't too afraid to say what's on their mind, and I understand for the FS. No one want to see this winning OGM that's why people are "relieved".

I hope they find new choreographers, because they deserve it. They could medal in 2022.

Regarding T/M, the music was not good enough for them. It was way beneath their quality and talent. They deserved so much more.

I have barely slept, got up at 2am here in Dublin and trawled through the channels for an hour - was about to give up when the BBC went from snowboard cross to the last two groups. I'm now in work having come straight in for the 6am start. Did it yesterday too. I'm exhausted and sleepy.

But I can't imagine the results would have made it more worthwhile. This is what it's all about - NEVER give up. I couldn't be happier for Aljona and Bruno. Loved S/H and D/R too and not disappointed to see T/M miss out although my heart went out to Evgenia at THAT moment of realisation.

Don't you just love when not only your favourites win, but the competition lives up to its billing!? :luv17:

I'm beyond thrilled for Aliona and Bruno. They skated a beautiful program. The Chinese had a chance and just blew it with silly little mistakes. The Canadians - other than that quad throw- are just kind of past their time IMO. Was surprised to see the Italians up there - good for them. All in all it was a very exciting competition and could have gone several different ways. Sui and Han will no doubt be back. They're young. I do have to say they are beautiful to watch and you can see Zhou's influence. Did you see Shen come into the kiss and cry and hug Aliona? The scene backstage when they all realized the Germans had won the OGM was sportsmanship at its finest.
I hope you are consistent and also think Carolina is past her prime too then.

Not saying that there aren't some awful people out there that would/were clapping and cheering that TM failed but I think (at least I hope) most of those people were also clapping and cheering because their faves won a medal. Now I won't lie. I really wanted DR to get that bronze medal and yeah... I cheered and clapped to when TM scores came up because I knew that SM won gold and DR got bronze. Does that count as clapping and cheering because TM failed... I mean, I guess. But it's not out of hatred for them but joy for those that I love.

I honestly thought there was a 0% chance this event would end with the Russians crying. It didn't even register as a possibility. I was sure that they were going to beat D/R until they skated. D/R did so well but even if they really didn't beat them they'd "beat" them because that's how it always happens. You see these things over and over again and it really leaves a sour taste in your mouth. But whatever may be going on with the scoring isn't their fault. I genuinely believe that none of the athletes are ever involved in any shenanigans that may take place, if they take place, so I would never use words like "bad guys" to describe the athletes. Evgenia seems like such a lovely young women and it broke my heart to see her cry. She didn't deserve to feel that way and my heart goes out to her.

According to German commentator Daniel Weiss Aljona has said she wants to continue for two more years but hasn't convinced Bruno yet to go on.

Hmmm she should skate to the Greatest Showman's "Never Enough". I appreciate her confidence and fire - and she midght do fine but it might be a cruel twist of fate or justice that she finds herself off the podium. I still think ofKavaguti and Smirnov and it could have been Aliona in their skates and vice versa. Ice is not only slippery but can be cruel. Sometimes things go your way - Aliona with a great win ain dramatic fashion but it doesn't always end happy - think of Brian Orser, Michelle Kwan, Kurt Browning, Irina Slutskaya, Midori Ito, Tai Babalonia and Randi Gardner, Angelicka Krylova and Oksianikov, Bourne and Kraatz, Sasha Cohen, Mao Asada , Elvis Stojko, Patrick all wonderful skaters and not that we should compare but maybe more deserving or worked just as hard etc as Aliona but fate was not kind.

Would you guys be willing to show me where I can watch the free skate?
I have only followed the results till now as the broadcast is not available here and I am on vacation right now
Thank you in advance
