2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

Are the Shib's going back to Fix You? They just said they're skating to Cold Play. Did they use a different CP song this year? I can't believe I still haven't seen their free dance....:drama:

They're using a different Cold Play song, but they did add some cuts of Fix You in it.

They're skating to Paradise

[edit] right... forgot they added some Fix You into it too.

I for one am satisfied with the USSA's choices. Your argument in ladies is that Bradie, though reliable, has a lower ceiling than Karen Chen. Maybe, but Bradie acquitted herself well in the SP and could easily have got third place with her performance.

Bradie couldn't have gotten 3rd place with her performance, that was the problem the whole time. The door was even left open and she wasn't good enough. Her skating is basic and being consistently basic is not something that pulls a competitive score, it just means you will find yourself in the middle of the pack consistently.

Reminder that if Mirai lands the 3A clean, she will be only the third woman to do so at the Olympics (along with Midori Ito & Mao Asada). :hap85:

Of course, if Kolyada is first and Chan is last, then all the pressure gets shifted to Daleman to place above dead last... :eekn:. If Gabby choked and came dead last too, Canada can only win if B/S choke and slip to 4th. I can't handle this. I might die of stress.

But then again, Daleman could get third. She might beat Kaori and Mirai, or Carolina might flub.

Is Kolyada doing the free as well? I'd be shocked if that's true. What about the National Champion? Did he turn down the team event?

I think I'm just working myself into a frenzy of worst case scenario speculation, so that I can open the door to relieved excitement at better placements, rather than getting crushed by underperformances. I hope Patrick is going to do a clean quadless program instead of risking getting shaken by falls on quads. A clean quadless program from Patrick should keep him miles above last place.

With the team already splitting pairs and ladies, they can't swap out anyone else. So, he has to do the free.

He IS the national champion. I guess they felt it would be better to give T/M a break since they actually have a shot at an individual medal and the team gold is already lost at this point.

I think pride will force Patrick to attempt a quad. :) But not to worry, Patrick won't be last and Kolyada won't be first.

As for Mirai being the third women to land a triple axel at the Olympics, I hope she remembers Midori Ito. If you miss you first attempt, throw it in at the end!
