Finally a touch of vintage Patrick after the disaster of Skate Canada, CanNats and the SP yesterday. So nice to finally see him smiling, excited, fighting; finally looking like he actually wanted to be there. Chasing redemption and he beat Kolyada on it (whether you agree with that score or not) so he's finally started to achieve it. I really hope he's able to leave this season properly now (since before it looked like he wasn't going to be able to).

Of what I saw of Patrick's performance it was good, however I had a cat that decided I didn't need to see most of it....

Dutch commentators feel that once again, Patrick Chan is way overscored on the second mark. They said that he's been doing the same things for quite a while now, and has been surpassed (not just with jumps, but also the skating itself, I think they meant) by Hanyu, Fernandez and Uno.
I might actually start to like the commentators...

Trying to explain to my family why these guys that fall are beating Adam. He thought Adam's was interesting and well skated. Why are those messy skates rewarded?

Because they want quads. And because this is a sport, and sports based on judging always rewards people that try to do the most difficult things.
