2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

First (but not last) medal for Russia. Can we have an additional gold for the fans, please?! Very pleased with that. Katia and Dima were superb!

I'm on the forum again:drama:

Congratulations to Canada; you deserved it!:hap57:

And of all the Americans, I am happiest, happiest, happiest for Alexa and Chris. What a story, what they've been through, and what a great attitude they have had throughout this comp.:yay:

I confess, I really wanted Italy to win that bronze, because I wanted an Olympic's fairy tale scenario. Also I like Marchei/Hotarek and want them all medals in the world.
But I love Mirai so much. Since Vancouver. But those 8 years was such a heartbreak. Neverending fight with puberty and injuries. 4 years ago she was stripped off of her rightfully earned olympic spot. But she never gave up, she continued to fight and learned the most difficult element in ladies' skating at her twenties. And she made comeback, she's at the Olymics once again. And at the moment when everyone had been writing her off and predict her to finish last, Mirai went and delivered perfomance of her lifetime! In the end of the day it's her, and no one else, who secured an olympic medal for team USA.
Maybe, you'll never read this story in the children books, but for me it's the most beautiful fairy tale ever.

Sorry for my english. I can't think straight, I'm sobbing right now.

I totally agree. I’m super happy for Mirai too, my sentimental favourite. That lovely lady is the epitome of what it means to never give up, continue to push your limits, and believe in yourself, even when the majority of others don’t feel the same, and refer to you as has-been.

Many here would argue that “it’s just a team medal, it’s not as important as an individual medal”, but I think it’s a very awesome accomplishment for those skaters who win them. Like it or not, they are Olympic medalists and deserve to be referred to in that way, no matter your opinion. It’s not the fault of the skaters who won a team medal either in Sochi and/or here in Korea that other big name skaters of the years past never got an Olympic medal. It wasn’t an option then, but it is now, so who are we to begrudge them for being a part of this era?

Team Canada wins in a runaway victory! V/M get a second time gold no matter what happens, Patrick can retire happy now and D/R as well.

I'm glad team USA came through with the bronze medal, especially Mirai and Adam. The Shibs finally found their groove with the FD, too.

Also OAR came through with the Silver and Zagitova breaking records again.

Great competition and a surprise 4th for Team Italy!

The Shibs were fabulous!!!. I loved the changes. I am so happy for them getting an Olympic medal :yahoo::gclap:

They get a bit lost in all the excitement of Mirai's triple Axel and Adam's skate, but for them to just be in the position to get the medal after all that Alexa went through, they've got to be over the moon.

I want a cuddly white tiger!! They are soo Kawaiii!!!!

Really ? In which way ? That is the first time I'm hearing this, but it's actually interesting if you (and perhaps others) have this opinion !

I'm sure I'm in a small minority. But I think it's a testament to the skill of V/M that they can sell the trivial choreography of that program. I also think the judges *like* trivial choreography because they think interpretation is just making a motion that matches the music. V/M actually moved into this *obvious* approach as their career went forward, so I think they are aware of it. A fast two-note beat - bob your head. Staccato sforzando - slam your arms. Soaring, sognando crescendo - time for soaring lift. String tango riff - time to shift your body with a tango shoulder motion. It strikes me as obvious.

The French aren't better though.
