I'm kind of glad US only has 2 spots. I was starting to feel the US team had started to get a bit complacent for my liking. I wish the same could happen with Canadian team, but with no change in standing. How Larkyn managed to get in, and how Alaine managed to simply fall apart like she did when the third spot was offered to her on a silver platter, is just amazing to me.

It’s hard for me to be happy about these kinds of events, even when your fave is on the podium. Wakaba, Loena, and Laurine were the only bright spots in the competition

I LOVE those closing ceremony dresses! I wonder who made them.

Same flag configuration as 2012 men's worlds. It's funny because when Wakaba finished I thought she had her Yuzuru 2012 moment. And she medaled!

Why does Canada always produce such good skaters with a black hole for charisma?

I agree with Hanyu 2012 moment for Wakaba! Perhaps we can call thse Wakaba 2018 for the ladies?

But I diasgree with Kaetlyn. She has charisma and is great to watch. She just needs better programs for her, her free skate wasn't the best vehicle for her. I'm still happy so much for her.

This was really the most confusing, shocking competition I've seen. :eeking: I'm still surprised at what I just witnessed.

I'm so happy Satton got a medal, but I really didn't want it at the expense of Carolina falling off the podium. Such mixed emotions now.

And poor Alina :sad21: That was heartbreaking to watch.

I'm really proud of Bradie. I get that she's 'bland' but I like her for some reason. She seems very genuine, and I appreciate the steady confidence she seems to have.

Go Loena She was the highlight of the competition for me! I can't wait to see how she grows over the coming years.

Surprised that Mirai didn't attempt the 3A. I guess she just wanted to skate clean, but I really thought she'd want to close out the season with her 3A.

Please, please continue this trend of shocking results for the men's FS I want my dream podium of Boyang, Keegan Messing, and Alexei Bychenko to come true

Now that’s a World Champion...hip hip hooray..for Kaetlyn. The cream always rises to the top...Congratulations Katelyn....I would have loved to have seen the faces of some people on this forum today when Katelyn won the Gold. It would have been priceless...

I'll tell you about my face. It had tears, because I was devastated for Alina, happy for Wakaba, and stressed about Satoko's placement and whether she'd medal or not.

A clean free skate wouldn't change anything, the program isn't good. She lacks any truly great choreography or personality in her performance, and didn't even end in time with the music in this performance. It also seems they tried to make her jump smaller in order to get more control, her Flips didn't have nearly the power they sometimes do. It was a very vanilla performance, except for the 3Loop which was surprisingly the best jump of the program and deserving of a +2 (but certainly not the +3's it got).

Wakaba Higuchi is the winner of this event to me. Better program, more difficult program (3-3 late in the program and 2 Lutzes, REAL EDGE Lutzes), better performance, and a little cleaner (1 fall in the SP as compared to a near-fall for Osmond in the SP plus a step-out in the LP).

I agree with Wakaba's amazing performance today. It was most impactful. Their gap should have been closer in the FP. I have to check the protocol. But When I consider 1. Wakaba's flip was not perfect either. 2. Kaetlyn's spins are better. I think the placement is right.

It is interesting that Kaetlyn now is able to jump small in order to control it. She was wild and almost threw herself in the air in the past. But, maybe her maturity taught her to scale down sometimes. It is not the prettiest thing to see, but sometimes you need to tone down, skate wise, and win the medal.

I don't know what just happened but whateverrr it was I'm not mad I'm so so happy for Kaetlyn, Wakaba, Satoko, and Bradie I feel a little bad for Alina though but she has an Olympic Gold so you know. I wish Mirai went for 3A though

Bradie got called for URs did she not? Satoko did not. I’m not even saying Bradie should be up there, but if she enjoyed the same inflation in PCS that the 6 ladies in that last group get, she very well could have been 3rd had Satokos been called as well. I think the point I’m trying to make is the top ladies (minus two) underperformed so badly they are lucky that with world spots on the line, their reputation carried them through and they weren’t passed by some lesser known, less polished skaters.

And even though I personally like Satoko so I’m fine with her getting the medal, I think the argument could be made for Caro that she deserved it since her short was the best of the bunch so is Satoko really the best pick for the bronze? It’s questionable but as her fan I’ll take it!

Same here. She's got a lot of people who hate on her and to see their reactions would have been good as the Gold that Kaetlyn just watched.

I noticed on social media, certain people who often bash Osmond and mock her ("Skate Kaenada" etc.) are acknowledging the other medalists but are being SUUUUUUPER silent about Osmond's win.

i don't think so. She can do that program on her sleep. just some things has to happen at some point.

Well Caro fans will always have the short program I am disappointed for her so much, but really the fact that she was in the conversation(thanks Ryan Bradley) at age thirty against girls who were literal babies when she was competing at her first Olympics is just amazing. We are still proud of you Carolina!!
