RusFed is making all the right decisions this season. So happy for Erokhov to finally skate on the international stage again, but also for Ilya and Gleb to get a chance to collect senior minimums. At this point I believe Misha K. is a lock for an Olympic spot barring some major upheaval, but the other two spots are wide open. Rus Nats will be just epic! And then we will have a post-Olympic Worlds and it isn't certain that all three men who made the Olympics will also want to skate there. Lol, can you imagine Ilya Yablokov sitting in the K&C at Worlds and pulling some ice cream out of nowhere?
Also, I really can't wait to see Zhenya Semenenko and team mates skate at Cup of Austria.

Personally, I’m not really behind Kolyada’s being a lock in on the strength of 4T+PCS and two lacklustre programs. I get it that he moves more fluidly than the rest, but it just doesn’t seem enough to me. But that’s me. Maybe I am simply holding onto Aliev dream till the bitter end!

I promise! I am going and packing the Russian flag along others. The stuffies have to stay home though, because the stadium policies are strict and with covid, I will wait for better times. Sheesh, I actually bought a bunch for Montreal with Danielian and Uno in mind

Did anyone watch the Panin memorial? I have to talk about how Petr would have broken 100 points in the short program if he hadn't gotten 4Tq+3Tq and 3Aq! But this was his first ever time trying 4T, a 4-3 combo, and 2 quads in the SP in competition, so he did a great job. Besides, the 4T looked clean to me. And he started off the free with a couple of splats but actually landed the second 4S and both triple axels in the second half and his total score was a good 37 points higher than it was a month ago at the Russian Cup

Today the Russian Federation reported that Makar Ignatov and Zhenya Semenenko haven't yet received their passports with the visas to attend Skate Canada, which means they will likely not be able to fly out on Sunday. No reason why Kolyada and Aliev can't both go. And there are certainly not three skaters in Russia who can outscore Kolyada internationally to justify leaving him at home.

ETA: Kolyada+Aliev with the young'uns as potential candidates for a third spot would be the ideal team. Maybe Samarin if he pulls himself together.
