I love Mozalev, he always has very interesting choreography and music. I find him very unique and he has so much talent.

I hope it’s not too much too soon… he only did a few international competitions in his life. His first proper senior international competition is securing a 3rd spot for Russia, which is a lot of responsibility.It looks like Mark is going to Nebelhorn to secure the 3rd spot.
On the other hand, if he does well, he’ll have a shot at that spot for Olympic team.

Barring some terrible turn of luck, he should be able to be in top 7. If he gets on the podium, that’s even better and it is possible, because none of the men announced is a maverick of stable performances. They all have ups and downs. I don’t see him missing qualifying the 3rd spot. Russian skaters overall are in a good competitive shape vs world average, the test skate upsets notwithstanding.
Mark has 18 years old. In women's year he would be "old" (and maybe that is the problem in men )... it's time... he doesn't have any GP spots so if he want's a shot .. he have to do or die .. if he fails bye olympic dream .... if he doesn't go .. goodbye to the Olympics too .. because it's one thing to send an athlete in their first year of senior competition to the olympics ... another one is to send an athlete who doesn't have a single GP or challenger ...
P.S. Well in the list there is about 4 big dogs I think .. but maybe someone can know this better

Even if Zhou, Sadovsky and Fa all outperform him by skating to their full potential, and Litvitzev has his own break through and we add a random stroke of luck for everyone else, Kondratyuk still secures 5th or 6th place, which is enough (he needs to be in top 7), and comes back the hometown hero. It’s a no loss proposition for him. The only way he can at all fail if he has a really, really bad day. In which case, he basically just joins the ever-growing cohort of the ‘new hope among the Russian men that didn’t pan out’ with a slight twist of losing Oly spot, but… that won’t happen. He will place in top 7 no matter what he does at Nebelhorn.

Same, but it’s only September. They will have to focus on the Nationals and work their way through CoR, I guess. Mozalev’s GP assignment is France, unfortunately, so, yeah, that might not happen for him with Covid restrictions.So happy for Mark for getting the Rostelecom host spot.

Small thought while catching up with the senior test skates... Samarin and Kondratiuk both have an endearing weirdness. The difference is that Mark's looks intentional 
Unpopular opinion but to me that is a mistake.
It prevents Petr and Andrei to qualify for GPF, and personally I find both stronger than him in spins, jumps and skating skills, not to mention they have an actual track record internationally, while Mark has nothing.

If Petr or Andrei manage to grab a gold or silver at their GPs (which are both before Rostelecom if I'm not mistaken) I could still see RusFed shuffling things around.

He has his chance and it is far less pressure than was on Semenenko last year. To get in top 7 on Nebelhorn is very, very doable.
I think the lack of track record is why they are socializing Kondratyuk with international competitions & he lands two types of quads in each free, which Gummenik and Mozalev are not doing as of the current moment. Mozalev’s turbulent on and off affair with 3A entered its new and intriguing stage as well.
my guess is that they want as big a pool of candidates as possible to chose from after Russian Nationals. Mozalev is going to Finlandia, so he will have to his chance to start climbing internationally there and show that 4S goes better than 4F for him.
btw, I don’t buy Kondratyuk as upgrade on Samarin b/c Samarin still has that insane 4Lz+3T….
I am not sure if Gumennik has anything now though.
argh, and I thought Russian women had it tough…
