I wonder if Kondratyuk-Mozalev-Semenenko are the youngest 3 men team for FS in Olympics? Anyone knows? @eppen ?
I hope that Russian media will be kind with the 3 kids even if they aren´t perfect. I especially worry about Mark´s SP in the Team Event. He has this backloaded 4sal-3toe combination and it always give me a heartattack. If he misses it in the Team Event that really could be painful for the Russian Team. And after knowing how Russian media treated Kolyada, I really fear for Mark.

I saw a compiled list of the ages of the competing men somewhere and Yuma Kagiyama is 18 but I think Kondratiuk is the youngest. All 2003 babies. Andrei born in March, Yuma in May, Semenenko in July and Mark in September.
No, I mean are they the youngest as average age, for any 3s? Or at least for a while?

Also, if US sends Malinin, RusFed must send Yablokov, because first of all, two Ilias is awesome, but secondly, with their last names’ respective meanings, the menu for watching JWC will be so simple. Just raspberry and apple strudels, with a side of ice cream, and we are all set. Such a sweet competition.

Exactly, we need both the Ilyas at JWC, the 🍎 one and the 🍓 one! RusFed, make it happen!

I recently wondered why most Russian men don't plan BV smarter like TT girls do. For example, why don't Mozalev or Kondratiuk bet on a safer 3F-3T combination than 3A-2T and with almost the same points for the free skate?
Even with a simpler design like Valieva or Scherbakova they could get more than 90 TES, it's something I don't understand

It doesn't make sense points-wise for men who are able to jump two 3As in the FS, which we have yet to see from a TT girl. It gives more points to repeat a quad and a 3A instead of a quad and a 3T. Russian men are usually smart an try to avoid zayaking.
Yes, I understand that, but there is always more risk of falling from a 3A than from a 3F. For Mozalev I think he could easily have a design: 4T-3T, 4S, 3A, 3Loop, 4T, 3F-3T and 3LzEu3S without falling on Zayak, since I remember that 3A has not been his most consistent jump (he has fallen on the o has been UR), and practically a 3A2T combination has the same value as a 3F3T.

Sorry, I didn't think my previous post through to the end, that's why I deleted it, but you obviously already had the quote. You are of course right, they could take out the whole 3A-2T combo and replace it with 3F-3T. But many men have edge issues on the flip, so they will lose points on the BV.

For example, here is Mark's flip record from SkatingScores. His flip even seems to be getting worse lately.

Andrei in principle has a flip with a clean edge, maybe his ankle injury from last season is giving him trouble with the jump? Could also be the reason why they decided to go for 4S rather than 4F again.

Kondratyuk could easily do a layout like Valieva's, save energy for last and focus on getting level 4 spins. Considering 4S is his strongest jump he could go for 4T, 3A, 4S3T, 3Loop, 4SEu3S, 3Lz3T and 3F, remembering that 3A is also his least consistent jump.

On another note, Kondratyuk's design for the SP is too risky, at least for the team event. A performance like the Rostelecom Cup 2021 and RusFed will tear it apart.
At this point it is almost certain that he will do the team event and a conservative design for his first Olympic performance might be better, now that he already has the reputation of European champion a design like Jason Brown or a single quad might suffice to save the short program of the team event.
We do not want a Kolyada 2018 story.

Something has probably happened to Andrei's Flip after a season of not very succesful 4F attempts and following injury.
For example, Kevin Aymoz had to skate without Flip and Lutz at the first half of the season because he couldn't do them due to injury. It may be Andrei's case.
One more example is Semenenko who has avoided Lutz in his programs for three consecutive seasons. This is just not his jump. He repeats 3A instead of 3T too.

I don’t know about Kondratyuk, but after his falls on 4F and related injuries, Mozalev stopped jumping 3F, let alone 4F. He laconically told during press conference that what you see in his programs, is what he is comfortable with performing. Given how literal Mozalev is, I assume that’s truth, truth and nothing but truth. Apart from injuries, he is pretty visibly struggling with growth right now and, consequently, finishing rotations, so they are not changing his content. And, yes, it puts him at the risk of Zayaking but he simply does what he can atm. 🙏 3F to be back next season 🕯
