That's actually very interesting, thank you. I'm not familiar with Kolesnikov but I remember Kulikova from the JGP and liked her a lot. Now, if only Aliona had joined them…Sokolovskaya just took in Kulikova and Kolesnikov.

As in, Sokolovskaya just took in two nextgen with very serious potential, so there will be no real reason for Kostornaya to go there. Kolesnikov was TT’s ‘next Samsonov/Plushenko/saviour of RusMen’ material. That's actually very interesting, thank you. R-Sport says she was asked to leave by the coaching staff.

Not all of them starting at once though. That reasoning makes no sense to me. Who else does Sokolovskaya coach? Samarin, Urushadze and Kondratiuk? Even with those two newcomers, that's not a big group. In comparison, Mishin has Semenenko, Kolyada, Luftfullin, Samodurova, Gulyakova, Tuktamysheva and Dmitrieva just from the top of my head.

I hope this was talked about. At least EG wont be angry this time. I hope not.R-Sport says she was asked to leave by the coaching staff.

Ivan Urgant pretty much had his show canceled for coming out against the war. If you go on Anna Shcherbakova's Instagram right now you can see photos of her at his studio but her appearance never actually got to air on television. She was there on February 22nd(day the Donbass republicans were "recognized"), she posted the photos on Instagram on the 23rd, the mass invasion began the 24th which is when Urgant posted his opposition on Instagram, and the episode was suppose to air on the 25th but it never did.No they haven't hurt their careers.
I'm sure all of them are against this invasion. All they have to say we are against war and I think that's all they've said. I'm not expecting any of the figure skaters or Russian athletes to come out and say I support this 100%.
I agree with ever word. about skating and about the west and Russia My heart breaks. Its like the world is upside down.Ivan Urgant pretty much had his show canceled for coming out against the war. Which is why I am a bit worried about Yagudin and Mamun. But there's too many people who have publicly opposed the war for everyone to be canceled.
I think whether they are for or against the invasion is a bit of a misnomer. It's whether or not they trust Putin on the invasion. People may not like that the invasion is happening but accept Putin's logic on the necessity of it. They live in a completely different information environment than you and me. Historically, Russia has had to deal with many different invasions from the west. They've seen an ally in Serbia be destroyed by NATO. They've seen Donbass civilians(and far more died on the separatist side than vice versa) be killed for 8 years. I could go on and on but propaganda works and it would be a big mistake to assume all don't trust Putin's logic on the invasion. I've seen a a retired female pairs skater that does a lot of shows in Western Europe and a popular stretch coach put out a Instagram stories saying "where were you for 8 years when Donbass was being bombed".
A skater being roped into doing pro-Putin PR would not endorse the war per se... in fact, they do pretty much exactly what Plushenko's recent instagram post did. Call for peace and say they trust Putin. I'm not completely sure if Plushenko was doing PR or if it was written in a way to avoid ire from the government. Zagitova a couple years ago engaged in obvious pro-Putin PR when she endorsed a constitutional referendum(I remember Ruslan Zhiganshin put out an instagram story right afterwards where he was very angry with her doing that). I doubt she would do do anything like Plushenko's recent post but it also wouldn't entirely surprise me.
Most skaters have said absolutely nothing. Most of the top skaters don't like posts indicating what they feel about the conflict. But if you take the few skaters who have spoken up and liked posts, their coaches and mothers who have actually been less shy about liking things on instagram, and then official fan accounts which have some close relationship to the skaters then it's pretty clear that the vast majority of skaters are against the war.
Interesting that Anna changed skates 5/6 times per season recently because of quads. So it looks like she could handle the Olympics problem well enough. Didn't want to mess with another brand at the time but no doubt she's smart to know she has to change and she alluded to it that she will.
it's also important to note this account was sent the medical forms from Aliona herself (in the comments). So, looks like Eteri and co. indeed kicked her out.

Also, TeamKostornaia published Aliona's medical documents, including her doctor's notes on the fractions. Something interesting to be found here:
Remember when Eteri said in her interview that Aliona "only" had a broken finger, thus should have competed? Well, turns out she lied. The medical documents clearly note: fracture of the wrist. Now, given Eteri's so professional Daniil called her the team's nutritionist, I'm sure she can tell a finger apart from the entire wrist.
And because I don't care and people need to see what this camp (with the endorsement of RusFed) does to these girls, I'll just leave this here:
Everyone go make their own conclusions.
I agree. I am a fan of the skaters, not the coach (especially Anna, Daria, Aliona and Alina). I hope that Aliona find her happiness in the new environment and that she can get back to the shape she had in 2019/2020. But even if not, I will still be rooting for her. I just love her skating. To be fair to the wider public, nobody believed Eteri in what she was talking about Aliona skating with a cast on her hand. It was just 100% bullcrap stupidity that could be discerned a mile away. I'm happy Aliona provided the medical documents to put this issue to a complete rest. Now we know the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
I'm still perplexed by those that support a coach instead of the skaters themselves. Kind of a wake up call. Eteri's legacy has slowly and steadily been smashed to pieces this season. I am happy I can continue to support and be proud of Evgenia, Alina, Aliona, Anna, Kamila, Sasha, Daria and Maiia. Also Sofia and Adelia. Happy days.
In fact, the December injury seems to be a partial metacarpal fracture( it's in the palm, not in the wrist) ; the recent one is a scaphoid fracture (this one is a tiny bone in the wrist indeed). However, neither of them would normally qualify as a wrist fracture - as a diagnosis, that is.So, looks like Eteri and co. indeed kicked her out.

Thank you for clarifying the medical terms. However, as neither qualifies as merely a broken finger, I think the point still stands![]()
Is it true that you forbade Kostornaia to talk about your injury?
Eteri Tutberidze: I don’t know who forbade her to comment. I think, on the contrary, she could have told quite calmly that she fell, and she had a crack on the bone of some finger.
In general, here’s such a situation. You can think of it in different ways – maybe some kind of cruelty or something else. But honestly, I believe that it was possible to try and skate with this injury. Because Evgenia Medvedeva skated with a plaster cast on her arm at the Russian Nationals and no one even knew about it. And she won that Russian Nationals perfectly.
Of course, there are some injuries incompatible with the continuation at the moment, when it is necessary to heal. And there are some injuries that athletes have been skating with for years. Moreover, it’s Russian Nationals – selection to the Olympics. It seems to me that she should have trained, should have tried. But it’s a shame. It seems to me that it was possible, maybe I’m wrong. There is no formula for how to fulfill yourself a person. Maybe she, having missed all her opportunities in sports, will become super-famous and popular. I don’t know. For everyone, there are different concepts of what is good and what is bad. It’s a pity, because I believe that this is a missed opportunity. I believe that with such an injury it was possible to skate.
