2021 Skate America: Women's Short Program

A non-weird Yokoi Yuhana program? That's new. And please let this be the first and last pop of the day

I enjoy Yokoi's style but most of the jumps in that program put the "mala" in "Malaguena."

Damn it, Yuhana! You raised my hopes only to dash them terribly! I love the arm variations on the final spin though.

I wonder if many Japanese ladies train like speed skaters because they sure have their legs and speed.

Yokoi gave zero performance in that and the step sequence was hard to watch.

Yuhana consistently has fun, unique music choices but this one‘s a miss for me (and also the opposite of unique lol) Also, not her strongest performance and that pop is going to cost A LOT. Though I liked the timing of the arms in the last spin.

Not sure if I've seen Yuhana skate before. Can't blame her for not looking like she was connecting to the uninspired warhorse music but it wasn't super strong technically either

Really enjoyed Yuhana's programme, lots of energy and drama to it. The pop must be disappointing for her, and the three turn out of the combo, but her performance was super throughout.

Ha ha I always laugh when they describe skaters as non-flexible. I'm like come over to my house if you wanna see non-flexible

But yes! With more speed in the step sequence it could be a humdinger as our friend Simon says.
