2022 Olympics: Men's Short Program

KONDRATIUK Mark (ROC)

A mixed outing for him today. Maybe the exhaustion is getting to him now. Had to have a very scratchy landing on the 4T and was only able to get a 4S+2T with a three-turn. Very strong 3A and much better spins than the team short program's, though. His timing is great, just wish his edges were a bit deeper.

Going straight into the individual event from having to be on TWICE for the team event has to be tough. The step sequence lacked its usual fire and precision.
Not to mention the early morning competition times, jet lag...covid isolation. This event seems rough all around.

interesting debate... to me adam is better because yes, one bad element,... all the rest was stellar... mark was ok but stiff throughout.

At what point will someone tell the Eurosport guy he's saying Mark's last name wrong?

Hearing "Kondriatuk" that many times in one week is starting to piss me off o_O
How DO you say it? Is there a silent letter in there.

Go Zhenya S, go!!!

It's just too bad. I was wondering if there was any way he could have just made a clean slate emotionally, and simply reset himself! Team event is over and Canada wasn't really going to do much better than 4th considering. I don't think Roman skating better or Keegan being in the TE would have gotten Canada in third over Japan, would it?

Anyway, Roman could have tried to compartmentalize those emotions, or simply try for a fresh start and just don't do a quad in sp. Reset and think triples, and just get some positive affirmations and visualizations going to simply skate clean w/o worrying about quads. With a clean skate, Roman's PCS coulda kicked in.

Now, heck, Roman will have the toughest time in the world coming back from this, especially re all the outside perceptions. I feel for him. He's so talented and such a beautiful skater, with an engaging personality. This is sad.

Keegan could have finished second. I’ve no idea if that would have won them a bronze.
