2022 Olympics Team Event Day3: Free Dance

The individual ice dance podium could be a Montreal sweep. That would KILL Eteri.
The achievement that will give Eteri to the global skating is that a Russian team formed solely by russian minors destroy their rivals and take everything the podium, and because in addition to the position 3 to 4 there will be at least 30 points of difference, and neither Let's talk about 1 to 4. When they achieve something similar make comparisons with Eteri.

The Montreal teams are truly global. That’s global achievement. There are, what, six Montreal Olympian teams? Eteri can’t compare: she has a niche, not a global franchise.

Salt in the wound: Eteri’s daughter is coached by a Marie-France rival. Killer.

And I’m loving the shade on Russia’s teens emanating from Sakamoto’s “woman” free skate.

I’m not making any claims about “fixes” but S/K lost because of a deduction which I assume was time related. So just saying, judges did want to give it to them today.
I think the difference is the scoring spreads are more realistic in this team event. If a few teams are comparable in skills and performance, one should win because the other teams made a mistake or under performed, not because of apparent judging bias. I am pleased by the scoring in the team event, even when my favorite loss.

More like, eleven. Almost HALF the ice dance field.

And also happen to be the countries that correspond to the ice dance judges that gave C/B the win over S/K, minus Canada, since they only have the No. 2 and 3 Canadians training with them.

I'm just annoyed that there's a claim out there that S/K can't skate their way out if a paper bag and should be last all the time because they're SOOOO overscored.

I've seen P/C get huge GOE a number of times for less than perfect elements, Gabbi once fully stumbled out of a Twizzle and got a level 4.

But no-one got the pitchforks out and called them cheating cheaters who'd been gifted.
I totally ageee! But the argument has now been established so firmly the judges completely dumped them and really ordered them to retire! So I don’t believe they will be in the ice dance competition. They were dumped very badly. The s/k have no talent argument has won.

I do not agree. The judges dramatically raised the scores of h/d and c/b to make s/k lose

I absolutely loved C/B. The music starts off weird, but it really draws you in with the alien-like movements and the fantastic lifts. I really hope they can perform like this in the main event. Is it just me ord the American pairs in general have more interesting/unusual lifts than the Russians?

Completely agree with you. I’ve also seen scores that have gone in Canada’s and America’s way that have been questionable. I’m not saying politicking still doesn’t happen but it’s not like it was back in the old judging system.

Let's just say S/K surely are one of the top teams in the world, personal taste aside, but they are not on the same level as P/C - noone is at the moment. But S/K are not on a higher level than either of the American dancers I'd say. And when it comes to interesting programs, music, personality, there are many teams that are much more interesting to watch.

In my opinion, they received slightly too high scores before and are now just being brought back to the level they belong. Now they have to fight it out.

Yes, in the least objective event in all of figure skating. I wouldn't call it a great merit, ice dance is perhaps the discipline with the least risk and complexity, where you win because the judges chose you as "the best" (yes, I'm talking about P/C, S/K, etc)

I've just watched Piper & Paul- they get me every time! Sooooo beautiful!

I must admit, loved Nikita and Vika too, so powerful! They trip themselves up with silly little mistakes. Hope that'll be different at the individual event.

Is it the same judging panel in the individual event?

The pool of judges for individual event include the 9 judges used for the Team event + Ukraine, China and Great Britain.
9 of them will be drawn just before the Rhythm Dance. The 3 not drawn will judge in the Free Dance along with 6 drawn from the 9 already used in the RD.
Positive tests may affect some of the above.

When I see you skate a Golden Waltz at top speed close to your partner in a sequined tux on specific beats of the music and not wind up with a concussion, then I might, just might, agree with this.

But I doubt it.
