2022 Olympics: Women's Free Skate

She was hounded into it and she did it to go to this Olympic. So, yeah, she should have stayed with Plyushenko… and then she would have been under even heavier scrutiny and bashing. It’s hard to be different from everyone else.
Yeah, I remember she seemed to really enjoy it at Plushenko's. The narrative back then was her dad made the decision to return to Tutberidze. So I imagine it was kind of like Alysa's situation...

I don't understand giving teenagers endless praise for achievements one minute, but relinquishing them of all responsibility the next. Which is it?

These Olympic Games have been provided endless examples of why the minimum age needs raised for seniors.
Apart from Valieva they meet minimum age requirements even if it is raised. Tbh, in Trusova’s situation, an adult might have had a worse reaction.

If they raise the minimum age, then...we would watch Olympics a la Group 1 and 2 of what we watched today. In other words, it will be UN-watchable.

Leaving aside Trusova's meltdown, the most surreal footage was to see the coaches and Russian officials completely abandoning the winner Sherbakova. The brilliant editing by the broadcast director from all Russians team members consoling Valieva to a coaches trying to calm down Trusova to Sherbakova quietly and shamefully standing alone in a corner looking confused was something out of sitcom. I felt I was watching The Office at Olympics.

Where are all the Russian supporters on here. Guess after the poor sportsmanship by Sasha and TT ..... Crickets
I was never a great Anna fan, now I love her. She was just standing there all by herself....Geez she just won the OGM.
and so great on the podium.

Well, given how her wonderful skate at those RusNats was scored, and how her 3A actually deteriorated since returning back to Tutberidze… I dunno. I am worried that they are going to bury her now, pump up Kostornaya back or create a narrative that Petrosyan is a better Trusova.

What a mess. I’ve watched this sport since 1998 Nagano and today was the worst one.
Also so disappointed by judging system, it’s even not consistent. No call on Anna’s edge, Anna was on fire tonight but I don’t know how can this happen.

The drama was bad, bad there were more good performances than ever I think,
8 or 9 clean strong performances, a couple more close to it.

Feel like Kamila and Sasha's reactions just tell you everything about why ladies event has been bad vibes for the past few years and we cannot have nice things.

It sucks so much when your environment makes the sport be ALL about winning at any cost and making you feel worthless if you don't win.

My favorite gymnast, Sui Lu, was also famously caught crying on camera after placing 2nd to a teammate at the London Olympics (the same teammate who was, at the last second, named to the 08 ogm Chinese team over her, 4 years prior). I never blamed her. I blame everything in the team, fed, and system that's made her feel like placing 2nd was the worst thing that had ever happened to her.
