I usually try to avoid getting into more 'controversial' discussions so to speak, but did want to comment on the Olympics. I'm a Russian transplant to the US and I used to, let's say, tinker with playing a professional sport (not figure skating) back in the day in Russia.
None of what's going on is even remotely surprising to me. I've seen it all before: the insane parental expectations, the coaches who are beyond reproach in Russia, the teenagers who drop out of school in like grade 9 (or finish "remotely") and get in their head (usually through parents) that they are the best thing since sliced bread and throw hella tantrums under insane pressure when the results don't reconcile with what they've been told. Very frequently driven by parents too, so going back home is in no way going to help Alexandra or Kamila if the parents are the ones placing these expectations on them.
Anna is an exception here, very intelligent and seems to have a good head on her shoulders. I hope she does well after her athletic career.
