2022 Olympics: Women's Free Skate

You people can judge Eteri (BIG-TIME!) for her handling of Kamila (before and after this) but blaming her for what Aleksandra is doing now? Really?

It's shocking and surprising to see it so public but frankly after seeing her the last few years, and hearing all the rumors about her father, her supposed attitude on practice s, and interviews, her throwing a full tantrum when not winning after skating clean isn't. I'm shocked but not shocked

She would have - she beat Anna in LP and would have similar SP score. Of course, she would not beat clean Kamila. But....
Do you seriously think they would have let her win over the World Champion, the 3 times Russian Nat Champion? They went with the safest choice, because Scherbakova is non-aggravating and peace-making. Everyone is happy, just Trusova is out of luck again. And they can’t tell you again, just you wait, your time will come. She wouldn’t buy that BS again.

I suddenly remembered Sasha's interview with her brother. This girl has been under the expectation to win for years, including her family. She must be devastated. She's a child. I can't believe the insensitivity in this thread. It's easy from your couch to judge her.
I calmed down a little bit. Since her junior days everybody expected Sasha to be invincible for years. But she's a professional and should be able to show some grace in defeat.

Trusova didn’t cry because of the gold medal, she was worried about Valieva’s poor performance, they are friends, and she said to Dudakov, "I hate this sport" because the haters destroyed Valieva, you can hear it on Twitter in the scene with the crying Valieva
Trusova is a good girl and was very worried about Valieva

I usually try to avoid getting into more 'controversial' discussions so to speak, but did want to comment on the Olympics. I'm a Russian transplant to the US and I used to, let's say, tinker with playing a professional sport (not figure skating) back in the day in Russia.

None of what's going on is even remotely surprising to me. I've seen it all before: the insane parental expectations, the coaches who are beyond reproach in Russia, the teenagers who drop out of school in like grade 9 (or finish "remotely") and get in their head (usually through parents) that they are the best thing since sliced bread and throw hella tantrums under insane pressure when the results don't reconcile with what they've been told. Very frequently driven by parents too, so going back home is in no way going to help Alexandra or Kamila if the parents are the ones placing these expectations on them.

Anna is an exception here, very intelligent and seems to have a good head on her shoulders. I hope she does well after her athletic career.

After Trusova’s uncalled for outburst saying she hates everyone and hates the sport, I could not be more happy that Shcherbakova won! Sasha has been shown the writing on the wall several times in the past that she would not be named the champion for solely focusing on the technical side of the sport. I am over the moon ecstatic for Kaori skating so clean and consistent and now being a 2-time Olympic medalist!! Fabulous!

I am truly sad that Valieva had to endure such heartbreak and public outrage. That outrage needs to be directed at all the adults in her life who enabled all of this to happen. I hope the irresponsible parties are investigated thoroughly and pay dearly for the irreparable consequences.

Where are all the Russian supporters on here. Guess after the poor sportsmanship by Sasha and TT ..... Crickets
I was never a great Anna fan, now I love her. She was just standing there all by herself....Geez she just won the OGM.
and so great on the podium.
What supporters are talking about? Kamila is crushed and I believe for no reason. Sasha has a nervous meltdown and need to urgently have a good rest and psychological assistance. This is a cruel sport.

And big congratulations to Anna whom her fake supporters wanted to leave at home yet another time.
