KOR Minsol Kwon (junior)
SP: OST from Ram-Leela

Source: Korean JGP selection competition

Can I just say that Minsol nailed this. She has the expression and energy required to pull off Indian-style program :love2:
This young lady sparks joy with her ability to inhabit a piece of music completely while still executing impressive content.
I always look forward to her skating.

New SP for Emanuelle Proft/Nicolas Nadeau (CAN, pairs):
"Way down we go" by Kaleo

Performed today at the July event of the Skate Ontario Sectional Series: Link
Nice from Nic & Emma. They look good together and they're improving. I hope they will both stay healthy this season and make further progress. I appreciate how at the end of their sp, the lyrics "Go way down..." match the death spiral descent. ☺️👍

It's lovely seeing Nic so happy and kicking it as a pairs skater. ✨

I was not familiar with Robinson/ Portz, so I checked on YouTube:

They are a nice-looking team. Are any clips available of their Flashdance - What a Feeling/ She's a Maniac RD?

Minsol Kwon's (KOR) new FS is to music from Smash! (OST from the TV series).
I love musicals so this is right up my alley and Minsol is cute as a button. 😸

Electric Light Orchestra!!!!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

I always think of ELO as a 70's band, so I didn't even think to look up the dates of their songs. So I am delighted to see that Darya and Michail have gone with them. Not only that, but they have included one of my favourite ELO songs, "Rock ‘N’ Roll Is King".

And for those who have argued with me, I would like to point out that Darya and Michail are clearly using the same definition of the 80's that I use, because "No Way Out" was released in 1990.

Oh, boys but I am looking forward to seeing this programme!

okay... we see weird things in figure skating... but this !!! I would have never picked that.

for those who don't know and wouldn't bother looking it up.

You wouldn't have picked this?? 😮 It was actually one of the first songs to come to my mind when I read 80s.

Funnily enough, when I heard about the 80's theme, one of the songs I looked up to check when it was released was Vanessa's first English language single, "Be My Baby". But, it was 1992, so too late.

Sacrilege!!!

I love Vanessa!!! I thought she had a nice voice. And she was seriously cute.

Admittedly, this song wasn't her best. But, come on, she was only 15! She improved as she got older.

But to say she cannot sing?! :drama: :dbana:

A song from 1990 is not an 80s fitting theme b/c it would have had an eight in there as the third numeral if it was. Therefor that song shouldn't count lol sorry not sorry.

when i say she cannot sing, it's not an opinion... it's a professional and objective evaluation. :) you may trust me or not. your choice. Vanessa Paradis cannot sing.

Since we are on the subject, what is your evaluation of Lena Meyer-Landrut, who won Eurovision in 2010 with this song:

Lena - "Satellite"

I always thought she couldn't sing. I couldn't believe it when I found out she was the German entry, and was actually angry when she went on to win the title.

Lena > Vanessa

Neither is a terrific singer but Lena is actually singing while Vanessa is... Vanessa.
I wouldn't count on Eurovision to showcase the best voices in the world... except that one time when they had Celine Dion ...

let's leave this topic please. If I were to start listing everyone who cannot sing, I would spend my life doing so.

Right, back to business.
