2023 Four Continents Women's Short Program

I know people have said that a thousand times, but her jumps are so bad to look at. She seems like such a nice girl and has real qualities, but I really don't want her to win this against these other wonderful skaters.
Yeah. I feel mean harping on it, because it's not her fault, it's the judges, but it is so frustrating watching her get held to a different standard than the others, especially since I suspect it won't last forever. Thinking of Sofia Samodurova, who had such a big breakout season and then suddenly she was getting dinged on every jump practically overnight even though nothing major had changed.

I dont understand the hype around Isabeau. Is she any better than the new Koreans or Japanese? Nope. Its just that the Americans are hyped about a new skater they can hype around until they hype her up too much and end up like Gracie or Alysa. Also her jumps are quite frankly not pleasant to look at. She takes off literally as horizontal as an ironing board.
Not sure exactly who you mean by "new" Koreans or Japanese. Yelim and Haein aren't new. The others at this competition, yes as far as seniors go. Isabeau may lack in technical quality on jumps, but what she does have over most of them is better performance quality--she knows how to express and project. And this season, she has been consistent. Almost Mai Mihara-level of consistency.

Every time they start hyping someone I'm like NOOOOO and refuse to join in. No more Gracies.

Yelim's skating isn't and never has been to my taste. Nice pop on her jumps though. I enjoyed all of the other women who are in the top 6.

I'm so sad for Hana who is my favorite. She's had a rough second half to the season.

Opinion about Isabeau, yes her toe jumps are terrible. But, she is special. Satoko had terrible jumps but wonderful attention to detail and I always loved her skating. I'll also love Isabeau's skating because good programs and attention to detail are rare.

Can I vote for you for president? Of anything?

My favourite programs were Haein, Mone and Yelim. ❤️ I would watch them again and again.

I don't understand why Isabeau kind of bends down to take off a jump? Posture wise it makes me think of Alina although the presentation is very pleasant.
And I'm gutted that Mone is not in the final group!!

I haven't seen any of the programs but....I sure am thrilled to see that the US Ladies all made the final flight! It will be interesting to see if Isabeau can score big in the Free Program and get the gold.

Yeah but it's more her combo jumps. Weird prep; not quite a mule kick but so prolonged with that leg sticking out and the muscling of the first half of the combo. I don't mind the single jumps. But indeed the detail is very good. I don't think her scores are home cooking. She did well in her first senior year.

Have many thoughts after watching, but have to get myself to sleep as it's past 1 AM and work awaits in few hours.
Have to say though - Jocelyn Hong and Haein Lee's dresses were FABULOUS. My absolutely favourite palette of colors. Now debating which one to choose to pay respects to in a form if flower crown...
And saw @CoyoteChris so much on the stream :), wondering if I saw any other GSer hehe
