2024 JGP Ankara Women's SP

Another entry in the list "covers I never wanted to hear"

what was wrong with the original song?

It was so bad a cover that I didn't even recognise the song until we reached the title line! :drama:

The credit in the ISU Bio is to the writer of the song (A-ha's keyboardist, Magne Furuholmen), so I have no idea who it is that we have to avoid.

Despite this, the skating was good enough to put TSAI Yu-Feng (TPE) into 6th position.

To harp on names a bit more: the meaning of Mlle. Tsai's name is quite nice, jade and the Feng (think Chinese phoenix, female). But while I have no idea how it feels to Taiwanese people if you write her Chinese characters and read them in the Korean way it becomes a very clunky, old-fashioned name that doesn't feel like a 15-year-old girl. But then again, she's not going to live in Korea so

That's dyslexic type spelling. :ROFLMAO: I try to be careful, but can't always see errors.

Sorry about that. Given what was being discussed, I thought it was your way of making a sly dig at Ted.

Hey, I totally understand about not spotting mistakes. I have been known to not spot typing errors I have made until weeks or months afterwards.

That was surprisingly good for a Bulgarian skater. Does she train elsewhere?

She is from the Elit club in Sofia.

I know we normally just hear about the Denkova-Staviski club, but there are a few good clubs in Bulgaria turning out good skaters. Having watched a few Bulgarian competitions last season, I'm surprised that more Bulgarian skaters haven't broken out and grabbed our attentions on the international stage.

Lia LYUBENOVA (BUL) goes into 13th position.
