They have great music for working out, especially Believer. If you ever want to push yourself physically, "Paiiiiiiiinnnnn, you make me a, make me a believer, believer" gets you in the right frame of mindAnd help me ... I think I like a song of Imagine Dragons![]()
Who is going to beat Jason at Nationals? US men not named Ilia have been for the most part underachieving for years. Unless someone other then Jason shows they can be trusted to finish higher then 20th at Worlds then who can be trusted to finish high enough with Ilia to keep those 3 spots? Jason has been that skater for the last two years at Worlds.Ilia and the Japanese men and Cha skated well as expected. I impressed at the consistency of Ilia - I think he is showing maturity and great conffidence as he wears the world title well skating under pressure of that title. I love Jason even with the errors. His skating is amazing. Not sure about his programs this year especially the free. When you are skating with tech from the early 2000s or before you need to be perfect.. I fear that like I siad before if he makes mistakes he might not make it through tHohe US nats. Roman may have just ended his season for worlds here. I am not sure Canada can send him knowing he has been sent to worlds before and the olympics and failed to get past the sp. Canada has one shot only in men's. True not a lot of quality in the Canadian mens but it would appear Chiu though not overrly engaging is a far safer choice. Honestly Keegan is a saferr choice at this point if they could get him and come back.
Quads aren't the entire story. Let's look at the rest of the field:It really has become a qusdsy-wadsy enterprise. Here’s what the top 6 did.
4F and 4Lz+3Tx -- first place (base value on quad elements = 28.27)
4Lz and 4T+3T – second place (quad base value = 25.20)
4T+3T – third place (quad base value – 13,70)
4S – fourth place (quad base value = 9.70)
4S – fifth place (quad base value = 9.70)
4T – sixth place (quad base value 9.50)
No complaint, just listing numbers. Is there a lesson to be drawn there for aspiring skaters?
Truth there.USFS should thank their lucky stars that Jason Brown is still around and competitive after all this time. He is the main reason we have 3 spots for worlds this year and if things go right he will be top 10 again he has not been been lower than that since forever. Ilia can have the greatest skate of all time but he does need another skater to get roughly a top 10 placement and the other one only has to make the long program to get the 3 spots for the 2026 Olympics wrapped up at Worlds without any further work or worry.. Jason may not be the most explosive skaters with all those quads, but it sometimes it most beautiful and heartfelt skating out there. Sometimes Jason transcends the sport and just puts art on ice. He shows that skating can be more than jumps and I love that he truly is rewarded for what he can give us. If I had to trust a skater to do a certain job like get a decent place at Worlds I would trust Jason to do it in heartbeat and to do it beautifully in the process.Who is going to beat Jason at Nationals? Jason gave two interviews this week where he said he hoped his example would inspire different kinds of skating and let other skaters know that there is a place for them in this sport.
“I want to be a voice in this sport. I really don't want the next generation of athletes growing up and feeling defeated because of an element that they might lack. I don't want people to feel, ‘Oh, I can’t land a quad jump, there is no future in the sport for me.’ Keep working to be the best that you can, keep pushing yourself to work the system in your way.”

"I think it's incredible the way that the other athletes are pushing the sport; technically, I'm mindblown!" he said. "I'm so in awe of them. And I think what's beautiful is there's room for so many different pathways in our sport. And I think the same thing with longevity. Like, I think you don't see that as much in our sport nowadays, right? And so I think that's another big thing [for me]."
Even the most dedicated Jason fan knows that in order to achieve that, he can't fall on a 3A and flub the combo. But if he hadn't, would he be in 7th? The judges still want to reward what he does.
I hope to reward those who will follow later.
Something has gone wrong with the sport in Canada. Canadian Nationals last year was empty. I've seen practice sessions with more butts in seats. I don't know what's keeping fans away.I just watched Jason, could not watch in real life. So sorry for his mistakes but otherwise he's always a pleasure to watch! Hope he'll come back strong in the free.
Jun, Sota and Shun were all great!
But those whole sectors of the stalls almost totally empty, empty rows elsewhere. And for men, of all disciplines! Really a bit shocking if you remember what it was like just a few years ago! No wonder they don't have a gala this year if it is so empty for comps. Seems like the direction the sport has taken does not really sit well with the public after all, not much arguing about that.
That's nothing! I once saw someone asking if Yuzu would be at a Domestic Russian Juniors event. The mind bogglesOMG Youtube chat is terrible. Someone seriously asked if Nathan Chen was there today![]()

Canadian nationals last year were in winter vortex Calgary. I went to both worlds and ACI last year and they were well attended. The later it was today, the more people were at the rink. In general, since COVID, events of all kinds have not been as attended as before. Even the subway, which is finally now running at 90% percent of its capacity in Montreal.... It was so empty a couple years ago after lockdowns and remote work... It seems that some people forget that Halifax is a smaller harbour city. It is not Toronto or Vancouver.Something has gone wrong with the sport in Canada. Canadian Nationals last year was empty. I've seen practice sessions with more butts in seats. And honestly, I think interest is dipping in America, too. But not as bad a Canada.
I really liked that skate from him. He looked like he had fun with the program and he was happy after it in the kiss and cry. It's a good start to the season, hopefully he can stay healthy and keep having fun with the program.Catching up on the lads now.
Gasp! Has Gogo finally returned to us?!! That was amazing from him!
Sharing here with no comments... cause I find myself at a loss for words.
It is also pretty expensive to get to domestically at least from the West, with no direct flights and stuff. That's why we didn’t go.Canadian nationals last year were in winter vortex Calgary.
