The only surprise here was B/S of CAN coming 10th! Every one else is pretty much where expected to be.

I thought the Finns would be higher and obviously the major errors for the Czechs and Americans.

They both fell on that lift at Skate America on the first day of practice. She lay on the ice for a long time, fortunately she was not concussed.

Predictable ice dance judging is boring.

And the fix was in. I called it when I saw the draw. They've already given it to Chock/Bates (undeservedly — again). No competition left to see, sadly. This is why people say ice dance is stupid.

I admit I am far from the most knowledge person about ice dance judging, but Chock/Bates having a higher skating skills mark than both Guignard/Fabbri and Piper/Paul just doesn't make sense to me.

I couldn't agree more and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Thank goodness there's a Belgian Trippel nearby to help me wash it down.

I’m still not over C/B winning with a fall and world record scores last year. I really can’t comprehend a world where anyone views them as better than P/C. They should be judged with scores much closer to G/F and G/P.

Wow, you're right - I totally forgot about that! I'll go ahead and blame my own concussion for that particular memory lapse.

WOW - Piper and Paul actually had the higher Base Value but got dinged in GOE. That does not make sense to me. One judge gave them all 3s on all the elements. Have to go see where that Judge is from but have a feeling I know!

Looking at the protocols, 8 of 9 judges had them first. The Polish judge went for the Italians.

They were just better, at least in the eyes of the judges insofar as what judges value. I don't blame anyone for having their favorites and for being disappointed (or overjoyed) in placements...

Nobody wuzrobbed. There's no fix that was in. There's not a conspiracy.

I looked on the protocol for you. It was the Slovakian judge.

What conspiracy involves the Slovakian judge?

And, for the record: The panel did not include a judge from USA, Canada, Italy, or Great Britain.

Glad Tim Dieck could clean up his twizzles, they looked very good.

Heartbreak for the Taschlers and Bratti/Somerville.

Lopareva/Brissaud are so impressive, I hope they will rise to the top where they belong.

What to say about the judging of the top3? Not much to say, judges will do what they want anyway, I will be angry, but that won't change anything.

My personal highlight were Demougeot/Le Mercier, so sharp!! Enjoyed that so much.

My impression from the rink was that the Italians were ahead of Piper and Paul and Chock and Bates. CAN and USA teams to me were quite even. Lilah and Lewis were out of sync at times and their legs weren't matching angles. Not always nice to look at.

Piper & Paul tied with Carriers & Ponomarenko for highest base value.

CarPom should be higher than eighth, IMO.

It did not help them or C&B that there is no US judge at this event. The tech panel was Italian, Canadian, and British. Only the referee was American.

It is very hard to see how you get a conspiracy out of that...

However, Madi & Evan just got a standing ovation in Canada, with Piper and Paul in contention. I don't think the crowd was paid to stand!

It was an electric performance.

Czechs Taschlerova/Tascher got the lift nullified (which explaines the low TES)
I think they could have scored aroung 74-75 within the 10th to 12th place instead of 68 with 17th place
