2024 World Championships Women's Free Skate

Great skate all skaters.
Congratulations Kaori on winning your third straight world title. A great accomplishment.🎊🌹
Great skate Isabeau on your world silver medal.💐

Chae-yeong terrific skate to win your first bronze medal.💐
My heart goes out to those who stumbled . They still persevered.

Great job Team USA(Amber and Isabeau) for getting three spots in this tough field.

Great skate Team Japan for three spots.

Great skate Team Korea for three spots.

Switzerland what joy on your team placements
Cheers to all skaters.

I could wake up and watched it nicely on TV from my bed :)

And I couldn't be happier with another Kaori victory, so very well deserved. She is in another level from all the rest of the contestants, in my humble opinion. She fought for the victory and looked gorgeous, I love her dress.

I didn't understand how Isabel Levito managed to finish in 2nd. I will give her enourmous credit since she had to skate right after Kaori and that is not good for nerves, but she looked as if she was heavily walking on eggs (or rather skating on eggs). Maybe this strategy worked for her. But no speed, everything looked very extra cautions, tense but she managed to execute her elements. And her dress is so beautiful. I think she was heavily over scored for whatever reason, again in my opinion.
I'm definitely not a fan of anything Korea, but today I wonder how the Korean skater finished 3rd and a rather poor execution finished 2nd. One of these skating competition mysteries. Even Hana Yoshida, minus the mistake, skated so much better with so much better flow than the given 2nd place.

Congratulations Kaori Sakamoto, very well deserved champion, let's already start getting ready for World Championships 2025 ... and win again? 😂

By the way how did Levito endup with 70 Pcs compared to Chaeyeon 63? That's robbery no?
The judges were not generous to Kim, (especially judge #3). Her performance was my favorite of the three.

Levito's marks were about right, though, to me. Sakamoto's maturity and presence carried the day PCS-wise.

The best thing about the Japanese national anthem is its brevity. And its simplicity, of course. You don't need a huge vocal range to sing it.

For some odd reason, I have a trivia question in my head, possibly confused, that the Japanese National Anthem is the only one without words.

Maybe I was playing a bar game in my youth, and someone snuck one over on me.

Edit: I just did some googling, and I think my misremembered trivia question is about who has the OLDEST national anthem. And while there are several claimants, it's pretty clear that Japan has the oldest lyrics, dating back to 905, although not set to music until much later.

A very minor thing but I'd translate 難しい as 'hard' here, feels more appropriate imo. But I am far from a native, my Japanese has deteriorated immensely. A native is needed... @lady_bee ? Is she still here?
Sorry for the late reply.
I slept over after RD, and woke up just before Group 3. Then I've been keeping my mouth shut not jinxing my daughter-in-law, Kaori.
Answering your question, "hard" can be more appropriate as you said, but I am not sure since Kao is known for his unique vocabulary:biggrin:.

How do you get a level 1 step sequence? Idk what to look out for. What made Schizas get such a low mark?
It's about the cleanliness of your turns.

For level 4 you need: 11 clean turns, 2 clean turn combos (3 turns connected with nothing in between), full body movement, and rotation both directions
Level 3: 9 clean turns, 2 clean combos

So if you mess up even one turn in either of your combos, you automatically are bumped to level two which is why you see so many Level 2's on step sequences that were nearly perfect.

Level 2: 7 clean turns
Level 1: 5 clean turns

No turn is allowed to count more than twice. So you can't do three twizzles even if they're different directions.

So happy for Kaori and her great success. I always worry about jinxing skaters too. :)

supposed to be voguing. She just did not do it properly at all
Well, yes, she fell and made mistakes in her program so she unfortunately didn't perform well, but that song was indeed Vogue by Madonna albeit not in its original version, I believe.
