2025-26 Programs By Discipline

Unpopular opinion, but isabeau should scrap her programs. For the short, I would love to see "20th Century Fox Mambo" from Smash or, if she must keep the piece Italian, "Be Italian!"
If her long program must be Italian also, she should switch to an undere-used section of La Boheme.
Just my opinions. I think isabeau is better than what she was given for an olympic season.

FD: "Io Ci Saro" by Andrea Bocelli

I think the RD only has been confirmed by In The Loop (they were at monitoring last week.) They haven't confirmed the FD yet and the footage that the song was being performed to is from a show in Italy.

Just seen some clips from the Summer Sizzler, and I want to share some thoughts.

Alisa and Misha's SP to Reel Around the Sun. I was assuming this was Jason Brown-type of Riverdance-y music. It is NOT. To me - and notably, I am not any sort of musical authority - this sounded like a cross between a violin concerto and a tango. It doesn't even sound like it came from the same universe as Jason's music. It is intense and dramatic, and it suits them very well, even with the watered down content they displayed here. I like it. This is a good program.

Amber Glenn's SP to Like a Prayer. This starts, I think, with the Madonna vocal, and then right when you're ready for Madonna to really get into it... it transitions to some sort of head-scratching choral arrangement, and then back, I think to Madonna to wrap it up. Early days, but when the music transitioned, the energy that was being built up just sort of fizzled. I could feel the crowd sort of deflate, and so did I. The reality doesn't match the hype in this case. At least for me, at least for now.

So, anyway, this goes to show that what we might assume from looking at the music titles might not be exactly what we get.

Shazam identified the music as Cloak and Dagger by Eternal Eclipse, so I think they changed the program away from Riverdance. It looks like a good fit for them from the Twitter clip.

Well, that might explain things! I was really struggling to see how this could from anything resembling an Irish reel. And, honestly, I'm glad they changed, assuming they did.

The X skating community, and they're always a reliable source so take it for what it's worth LOL, says that the Riverdance program got not-good early feedback, and Cloak and Dagger is less than two weeks old. Repeating what I said earlier, I like this much more than I think I would have liked the other program.
