LaLa are not moving down. They had a major mistake on twizzles, which is usually their best element. Insert their score of a well performed twizzle element and they would be miles ahead of CPom. To their credit, I believe CPom have improved tremendously this season and they are confirming their status as USA number 2 which couldn't have been taken for granted previously. So, I wouldn't say that LaLa are moving down...I would actually say that both LaLa and CPom will soon be at the top of the food chain, when their compatriots retire. They will be fighting the French and the Finns in my opinion, not the Brits. If you are looking for teams on the downward trajectory this season : Italians (due to their bland programs) and Brits.

So tired to watch the same elements, the same dances, the same old teams to win. Common, could we have something fresh, like it was before Vancouver and after Sochi? Someone young and fresh, with new vision of ice dance?
CB already have more titiles, then DW, soon they will be equal to VM. Really? Piper Gilles OG medalist and Hubbel had only bronze? Italians so old, have such bad FD this season...

I do wonder if CPom will be eventually the top american team; I can see someone else coming. Christina has really improved but I am not sure they are the team. Granted Anthony seems to show signs off the great genes he has been given from his mom and dad. Good point about the error. LaLa seemed pretty devastated. Nice win for Piper and Paul and the top ffour teams herre look good do compee with Italy, FFrance and Britain as well as the Fininish and alll.

you know, that is fair but just not great "journalism" talking to people you know does just one thing... showing that you know these people
if he varied his interviews, it would be much more interesting, or if he made interviews that are relevant to what is actually going on. I want to hear much more from Kim, who won the AWG and is ahead of the pack here than about anyone else in the women's division... That's just one example.... To me, it looks like American broadcaster are paying him/hired him... that I am watching NBC or another American channel.. yet this is the ISU feed.. this is where it becomes a problem. If I watch Johnny and Tara I know what to expect, just the same way as when CBC was putting Kurt Browning and Carol Lane up for commentating. But this is an international feed so it should cater to a larger audience.

He's not a hard hitting journalist. It was clearly just a casual thing.

I don't doubt his technical knowledge but sometimes it comes across that he doesn't quite understand what judges/tech speciallists are actually looking for.

you are correct. I will give you that. Z/K are also making their move but it will depend on how she manages to catch up as he is so much stronger. Green Parsons rely on their material. They are exquisite if they have good programs, the issue is that they don't always have good programs. A lot of strong teams are emerging from junior ranks. American Ice dance will be shaken when Chock and Bates retire... as they have been there for SO long.... (I thought they'd retire a couple years ago)... it will be interesting because when USA/CANADA or any of the top country reorganizes in ice dance, it also shakes the worlds hierarchy.

All this talk about "trajectories" just seems to be certain fans pushing certain teams they like and dragging down their rival teams.

As for USA, a lot off young teams could be on the top on future. I like Nesset-Markelov, Somervill, Abouyan

Just finished watching the whole competition, and here are my thoughts:

My favourite dances choreographically are Lim/Quan's Cruella, and Zingas/Kolesnik contemporary. Both are sheer genius. I'm always so surprised when people say they don't like Lim/Quan's FD this year, as I think it's completely fantastic. They also had, for me, the best lifts in the competition. Zingas/Kolesnik wove a spell. I am sad that we probably won't see this program again, as I think this concludes their season. Breathtaking. In the U.S. battle of contemporary programs between this and Green/Parsons, this one wins for me hands down (I hate Green/Parsons music with the vocals — it gets more awful the more times I hear it). When I see people talk about this team I'm unhappily reminded of how people used to talk about Papadakis/Cizeron as if he was the second coming and she was this weight he dragged around the ice. It wasn't true of them and it's not true of Zingas/Kolesnik either. But she'll never measure up for some in this sport that worships men and treats women as disposable, not matter how good and skilled she becomes. Rant over (for now)

Best basic skaters in the world in my opinion are Lajoie/Lagha. Really too bad about the uncharacteristic twizzle mistake. Would have been interested to see how high they could have scored. I still thought it was mesmerizing, and that they absolutely still deserved to be above Carreira/Ponomarenko.

Chock/Bates bored me. This program has not grown on me this season. Even the lifts weren't interesting (usually their strength). It's slightly dull fluff that I forget the second it's over. Very glad that Piper/Paul won here. The commentary after Piper/Paul skated was even worse than I remembered. Chris just couldn't stop gushing like a fanboy after Chock/Bates — you would have thought we'd seen something revolutionary, rather than ho-hum. In contrast he just trashed Piper/Paul throughout the replays and wouldn't stop talking about how Chock/Bates were better. He didn't even do the usual pointing out of the program highlights. I don't think he had a good thing to say about them. Biased and awful doesn't begin to cover it, lol.

Chock and Bates are good and I know in part it is timing but it almost seems "unfair" that they have titles equivalent to Davis and White, Virtue and Moir/ PC or even Torvill and Dean, Bestmianova and Bukin Klimova and Ponamarenko. They ae good but and the word isn't necesarilly fair but they to me are not as outstanding as these other pairs yet their record and scores which I believe are unairly hyped are overated. I mean yes they rretired but Hubbell and Donahoe or the Russians may verry well had titles had they skated But yes, it is who is left and even with mistakes at two worlds they seem to get the beffit. I have a eeling they will take gold in Bostton. Italy, Britain, France and LaLa ae no match. Pipper and Paul maybe if they make enough errors but P squared had momentum already twice and did not win.

I think C/B have capitalized on her good looks and his willingness to be a showcase partner, making her look all the better. They have tremendous lift and acrobatic skills that are flashy and PCS point-getting. They have also been very lucky to be as healthy as they have been considering their age. Apparently, they take good care of themselves physically but it is amazing how Evan looks as youthful as ever.
