2026 Four Continents Championships Free Dance

Emilia & Vadym have the best skating skills and this take on R & J is different and unique. The frantic quality to their skating is a good match to this music and in the short as well. I hope that they will develop an emotional depth. While I marvel at the technical ability and like them as people, I do not connect with their skating emotionally yet.
Well that was the criticism of D/W for all those years that they were technically brilliant but lacked the emotional connection especially of a team like their rivals V/M but they did okay in the end.

Yes I know - I actually practiced in the early days with Meryl & Charlie - we had the same coaches. I did connect with several of their programs - Eleanor Rigby, Giselle, Samson & Delilah, the Indian RD & both their winning skates to name just a few.

This is not a knock on Emi & Vadym - just a comment that I am not there with them yet emotionally. They are building their technical base right now, future steps will round out their expression and that will make them an even more well rounded team

Awwww. Walking out so casually holding hands and waving with their spare hand.

And then Emilea does a fist pump, and blows me a kiss when they reach the camera. 😗

Boys, but she is happy!

Awwww. Vadym making sure the ribbon on Emilea's medal isn't twisted when it is put on her. That is a good partner. (Seeing sombody wearing a medal with a twisted ribbon is always a pet hate of mine).

Awwww. The wee cartoon picture of themselves they were presented with!

That was funny. Vadym having to tell the Browns to hold up their medals for the photo.

Actually, when they all went up onto the top step, Oona looked like she was upset and was about to cry.

Ach, they ended the broadcast too soon! I wanted to see them doing their lap of hounour and getting their photos taken!

^^Doesn't he get Emilea right, though, or am I hearing what I want to hear? Many say "Amelia" but in listening to her say her name herself, it's Em-i-LEE-a? But I'll admit, VADim sounds all wrong to my ears, too!

ETA: Michael kind of got away with a swingy leg and maybe a little early putting his foot down/balance check in the RD twizzles, and here in the FD the same thing with the one foot work. Just rewatching already and it struck me again.

My predictions are
Because of work and too many other obligations I am missing Euros numbers because I did not get home in time to enter them (-175 for me). I actually did decently in dance - Hannah & Ye caused me a lot of problems.

He mispronounces both training bases Canton ( not can-TON but just Canton) & Novi (not no-ve but No-vie) as well.

I think you might be hearing what you want to hear, because I hear Chris saying "E-mee-lee-a", i.e. the way you are complaining about people pronouncing it.

But, as I said earlier, at least it is closer than Mark's "Emily". :rolleye:

I can relate to this.

Not naming names, but there are some of my kids that I really like as skaters, but the programmes they have been given in recent years are not to my taste at all. I just cannot connect with the programmes. And as a result, I am starting to disconnect from them as skaters. Which isn't fair.

Right, time for breakfast, and then winding back the stream to watch Group 1.

I'm so happy for Oona and Gage, their free dance is so good!
I'm also happy for UtaMasa gaining season's best, they needed that before the olympics. Of course, they won't top any higher ranked teams at the team event but I hope they can skate confidently, have a great experience, create many good memories and maybe even get a medal :)

Overall good FD. Emiliea and Vadym lived up to their rising-star status. Same with Oona and Gage. I am concerned for Caroline and Michael as they seem to be stagnant with the judges. They remind me a little of Hawayek and Baker who had such potential but couldn't break through to the very top. I think the turmoil with the coaches at the Michigan Ice Academy has had its impact with Green/Parsons. Greg Zurlein is a good coach and I hope they stick with him. Maybe a clean slate next season will help them help them take the next step.

Great podium. The US dance field is so deep and so rich in talent. Emi and Vadym just a class above this season. Other than the improvement in their skating skills and delivery, I'm very impressed with their consistency! The rising-star pressure must be difficult for anyone, but they've handled that with so much maturity.

I am also happy that the podium prize money went to 3 teams who seem to need it badly. They all work on the side to help with training costs, and have GoFundMe set up. It breaks my heart that skating is so expensive, even for the brightest talents.
