A really good short programme from Rino! I love that piece of one foot skating with turns across the long side of the arena on the way to her 2A. I get the impression that she needs relatively few crossovers to gain speed. The inside edge arabesque spiral after the back counter (thank you, Mark, for identifying the turns) that, well, spirals in on itself is so beautiful. I hope that she just pinched or tweaked something momentarily and that her lower back is all right.

Beautiful skate from Rino MATSUIKE (JPN).

But worrying that she is started holding her back as soon as she finished. And continued to do so as she was coming off.

Much as I enjoyed that, if she was already injured, she shouldn't have been out there. Her long-term health is far more important.

She and her coach look very happy in the results area.

She goes into the lead.

Is there a problem with the ice here? Skaters appear to be struggling in warmup on this rink and overall it’s just not been a well skated event in general in all the disciplines.
