Noelie will probably lose her JGP spot. Sorry for her, but she placed the lowest among the Swiss women at Test Skates.I hope that they give Elisabeth Dibbern a second JGP spot now. I know it would mean someone missing out, but I think she's earnt it.
). Not her fault of course maybe the coaches can be more creative. I think she will be around for a while. She skated much more mature than 13, but on the podium seemed taller than the other girls so hopefully she doesn't grow so tall that the jumps become too hard.I think nerves got to that final group. Goidina, Takagi and Kim can all do much better and made mistakes which were uncharacteristic for them. I think you are being a bit unfair on the American lass (Angela Shao), though. She is unknown internationally and it is her first junior season. 6th in the short and 5th in the free shows consistency and she gained new PB scores in both programmes and overall. I don't think that a personal best skate is "throwing away" anything. She wasn't expected to podium. She outperformed her team mate (Sherry Zhang), who does have the reputation and was probably expected to finish above her. Sherry Zhang has always been inconsistent, though.Wow Goidina absolutely blew that one. I don't remember making mistakes like that, she skates small but always consistent. She will regret throwing that silver or bronze medal away. She will never get a better chance.
And only 4-5 points between 3rd and I think 8th. The American, Takagi and Kim were just as bad in throwing away the podium with all their errors and given that they were given their "reputation" bonus (not so much Kim). Gerke was a little unlucky, with a "reputation" bonus she probably gets onto the podium.
Huh was the star only 13. Her free skate music was a little boring though kind of typical Korean musical choice (I don't know why they like that music). Not her fault of course maybe the coaches can be more creative. I think she will be around for a while. She skated much more mature than 13, but on the podium seemed taller than the other girls so hopefully she doesn't grow so tall that the jumps become too hard.
Great result for Dibbern that's a result of a lifetime. I don't think she can recreate that again it was a relatively weak JGP field and everyone from 4th-7th made multiple errors.
Where do skaters like Takagi go from here 17 the age that Shcherbakova won Olympic gold and she is beaten by a 13 year old and unknown girl from Switzerland. And the Americans too might be in trouble. Too many mistakes.
I don't think my pairs scores is any better than my women's one, either...So what happened to junior women being the almost easiest discipline to predict ??? I don't even want to look at my score LOL![]()
You're right it was a solid result for Shao I shouldn't put her into that group of skaters who blew it. It's a good, solid result, and beat Zhang who like you say has reputation.I think nerves got to that final group. Goidina, Takagi and Kim can all do much better and made mistakes which were uncharacteristic for them. I think you are being a bit unfair on the American lass (Angela Shao), though. I got 5 in women...I don't think my pairs scores is any better than my women's one, either...
For me it was inverting most of the skaters within the same country...20 in women was apparently a pretty good result - Not a medal, but just barely off the podium. Seems like nobody was able to predict what happened here![]()
