2025 Skate Canada Rhythm Dance

Well, I just have to say that I am sick of the ice dance disco/techno music trend over the last few years. I wish the ISU had made the Rhythm something more step based rather than thematic. But for what it is, I think the judges got the order correct. I am looking forward to the Free Dance and more variety and creativity.

I think P & P suffered a little bit because the Lithuanians skated so well to the same music before them. They had the whole package today except for a little loss of speed compared to the first team. Their overall aura won the day despite the music not going with their costumes. I did love what they wore but trying to figure out its relationship to the music. nit pic, I know.

Well LaLa had the second best dance of the season for me. A bit messy in spots but loads of fun and incredibly fast.
The dance looked messy and lacked sharpness. Zack’s loose jersey style might work for a show program, but it didn’t suit this short dance—it hid their posture instead of highlighting it. The Rhythm Dance rules this year make all the programs feel monotonous, with no tempo changes. This was one of my least favorite dances from them: not enough precision, simpler transitions, and a rushed feel. A disappointing step down from their usual standard.

I’m still sad for LaLa!!
Could have placed really well if it wasn’t for that last mistake 😭
Yup, they were headed solidly into second place, IMO.

Kaitlin Weaver was absolutely right in her commentary that it really doesn't help if you look like the world is ending as you head to the kiss and cry. That's true for both LaLa and Carreira/Pon today. Yes you made a mistake, but still look like you had a good time for goodness sake. The judges are still coming up with their PCS. Bluff it out!

8. Marjorie LAJOIE & Zachary LAGHA CAN 🇨🇦
RD: "Get Ready for This" by 2 Unlimited; "Are You Ready" by AC/DC; "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC; "Ole" by The Bouncing Souls, choreo by Romain Haguenauer

SqTwW4 + SqTwM4 (off-sync on the second set)
MiStW3 + MiStM3
RoLi4

ChRS1! (miss a grab, have to come out early of a choreo lift and drop the choreo, didn't get all of the requirements in)

RD: 75.95 (2nd)
that rhythm sequence error really did cost them getting into the 80s

The speed and flow in this rhythm dance was really remarkable, and they have such good knee action. I like the thematic idea of the program, but it's at the same tempo and energy throughout the whole program, which makes it feel kind of long and like it doesn't really have a build towards the end. I appreciate their enthusiasm in the rhythm sequence, but they clearly had some sort of mistiming during it and had a moment of looking confused and trying to figure out what to do. That cost them 7-8 points, which was really costly, especially considering how well they were doing with the other GOE and levels.
100% I agree, it felt longer than a free dance. I think that could be because a lot of those songs, while admittedly associated with sporting events, are typically songs that you associate with intermission or something like that lol. At least an hour local hockey games, it's some of the my numbing background music that gets played in between. Or whatever, so you just kind of get used to zoning it out. At least, I do:-)

Saulius Ambru... Ambru... excuse me.

Because she never lost to him
not true.

Canadian Nationals, 2011.

Champions, Crone/Poirier
Silver. Weaver/Poje

Canadian Nationals 2010 and 2009
Virtue-Moir
Crone/Poirier
Weaver/Poje

2010 was especially important as Canada only had two spots for the home games... meaning Weaver-Poje didn't qualify (no idea if she had her citizenship already or not... probably not)

I didn't like the shirt but it's a hockey jersey and if he's going to wear it out, it should be more close fitting, IMO. Love her costume. I love them. I hope they get this program down. They will.

I've wondered about that. Also reminds me of Scott Hamilton who would say "Don't sell the mistake."

Let me clarify
I loved Ali & Saul the most, I think P & P are the best dancers and deserved first, LaLa were the most energetic and true to the 90s feel, C & P are excellent dancers and got the edge of what will be a tight battle with LaLa this season. The judges are telling B & S to get a new program - this one belongs to FB & C

I'm finally getting a good look at Paul's outfit.

I'm assuming that's a corset?
Honestly, the first thing I thought when I saw the dress, especially the cut with the weird bouncy fluffy butt 'flounce' think made me think she was trying to highlight the early 1990s women's costume Style :-)You know, those weird costumes we used to see all over the place before finally Chen Lu broke the mold in 1995 with that beautiful red classy look for the last emperor? Man, I miss her and all her stunning costumes. Every single short program and free skate costume she had between 1995 and 1998 were stunning, understated, yet so ethereal and classic
