It's time to decide the destinations of our first set of individual medals!

Livestream for the Free Dance is now on air.

The BBC don't tell us what they will be showing on each channel, or if it will include the skating. So I will hedge my bets and provide links to both broadcasts.

We do not want judging controversy being the headline in the media. The Olympics has done a lot of damage to our sport in the last 2 decades. When the public thinks of figure skating, they think of sketchy judging or outright controversies, doping, political favouritism. We need only positive stories. Yyes close competitions are perfect and we have a couple now but the winner must clearly deserve the win.

E.g., From Canada - Deanna's amazing story, Piper's survival of cancer, Maddie's request for a deadline extension and her prof's response, Stephen's amazing team competition. Lots from other countries too. These are all good stories for the public to read and form a positive opinion about the sport and the athletes.

But this ice dance judging controversy - I really hope that the media leave it alone. It isn't easy to explain to the public (I watched a really weird video last night on the CBC trying to explain it and failing iMO) and it will harm our sport - which is already beaten and bruised. Please, no big controversies in the next week!
I think it's almost certain that there will be a media controversy after the ice dance event no matter what the result is, this discipline is just too subjective. And a lot of people, many of whom don't even know the exact rules used in the judging, are way too invested in it, either because they support a team or because they really don't want another to win due to circumstances outside of the ice.

Hello :hap10: :hap10:

@elektra blue I think you would like to know that Milla gave away a secret about Nikolaj putting brown cheese on everything, including pizza. She says he would have been put in prison in Norway for this. Probably in Italy too :ROFLMAO: Nikolaj says he has to sleep with his eyes open from now on after she has exposed his weird brown cheese habits.

His interesting eating habits aside, is she speaking Swedish here or Norwegian? I remember you telling me that Milla's Norwegian is understood by Nikolaj perfectly well but since this is her speaking as a Swedish skater I'm curious

By the way, I did have cheese pizza for lunch, but obviously not with brown cheese 😆

Ichat has to wonder why she woke up at 3 am just to face bitterness and resignation, but here she is somehow. I was so pissed about the judging yesterday that I spent nearly the whole day trying to not fume out my anger to my non-fs watching family and friends, let's see if I can avoid doing the same this time
:console: 🍫 🍫 🍫:console: imagine me bitting my nails and tongue because my boss told me she read about yesterday's event, I managed to ask her to not to go into details

That is correct, she is speaking Norwegian and Nikolaj Swedish. I´m impressed how they are keeping up with each other but they seem to have no problem, and they are speaking fast.

Ooh how nice, to be able to speak your native language for an interview done by and with speakers of another language and being understood perfectly fine! As a native speaker of a language isolate (Korean has, at least according to academic census, no direct sister languages) this feels so 🥰🥰🥰

Is that Norwegian goat cheese he's putting on pizza? That is truly awful.
