I think this is what bothers me about this couple. She didn't bring anything new, they just replaced Gabby with her and did the same thing again. And it feels like a cheap win, even though they are great. She also doesn't really show much personality in her skating, as if she's intimidated.
Yeah, like it bothers me that he has the same amount of individual Olympic medals as Virtue and Moir, when Virtue and Moir did a lot more to show they can do different styles.

I absolutely adore the French team's FD but this was an unfair result (C/B should have at least won the FD).

Guillaume had an obvious save on the twizzles (kudos to the judge who actually scored a 0, or even the 2).... and he also had a save/stumble on a RBO twizzle on the Serpentine sequence (after he did the RFO rocker) - and only one judge gave it a 2 ... they've skated that way better and to get a PB for it is just wrong.

Thrilllled for Piper/Paul though (even though I'm a bit gutted for the Brits - they couldn't have caught the Canadians).

I’m so proud of Madi & Evan for skating an excellent performance under pressure. I think that is the program I will remember years later - more than the whale. So happy for Piper & Paul for winning the bronze. So devastated for Lilah & Lewis. Congratulations to Guillaume & Laurence on your win.

wow so much excitement. Piper and Paul really stole the show. They were to me th emost sol id. NOt slow. Not making little errors. But that's life. You take the good, you take the bad that's the facts of life.
Laurence&Guillaume, it's gorgeous on the ice. I would have give you the silver, though...
Honestly, this was so tough. First of all congrats especially to the medallists. Congrats to the break outs ZK, the Spanish team and Dune, Lots of very good teams too many Lithuania, Italy, Brits, LaLa,, Georgia, Careira and Ponomarenko, Finns... But the tree medallists were the class of the fields . None of them have the smoothness or magic of Virtue and Moir THe team that was the most even when it came to excellence is the team the judges deemed the weakest the Canadians who should have been higher. Why. They had better speed than the Americans and no huge errors like France who I am amazed held on to gold with the twizzel issue. CB look a bit sloppy and this routine really was Madi pushingit down our throats. Chock and Bates and Piper and Paul maybe ere a bit tired afer years of performing. Guillaume and Laurence maybe "new" together but really this pairing is muchlike that Russian pair that won Olympic gold and silver in pairs in 1992 and 94 then came u p with a new women who really was a copy of Natalia (ARtur Dimiteriev and then Oksana. They are doingmuch ofthe same as they did with Gaby now with FB. Lauurence is amazing But all three teams had flaws. Still they were clearly the class of the field though I am not so sure why the cnadians weren't higher in points. I feel for Britain but the ech issus were huge. I am glad for ZK but I have to say it is so hard to rank these teams. France 2, LaLa, the Liths, Spain all just a mish mash of teams so close. That's how a good team like no 5 in the world last year Ponamarenko and Careirra end up 11th or poor Georgia in 13th I believe. No where to put these good teams. And I called it. I knew P C would be dropped as it really wasn't fair to put them up with ZK and so many othe great teams.

I've found FB/C's skating mesmerising, their skills are just better than anyone else's and the program itself is superior to C/B. The twizzle got almost a point less for FB/C, but they still got the highest TES and PCS. The French and Canadian judges gave two 10s for FB/C's performance. The was no American judge in the panel, (edit: actually, there was), it was very pro-European. After the team event I think it was obvious they would give the French team the gold.

Congrats to C/B and G/P as well!

I'm well and truly super sorry for Lilah and Lewis - but they'll have another chance!

But I'm over the moon for P&P!!! They more than deserved this medal! This is wonderful! :love2:

50 years ago today, another Canadian skating love of mine won bronze, but my tears then were of disappointment. After all, he was, and remains, the best skater of all times for me: :bow::bow: Toller Cranston
I dont think they will get another chance, Lewis would be 35.

With the next Olympics in France? Not gonna happen, I think.

I think we are stuck with them for years to come..

Honestly I have only heard that Gui wanted to aim for 2030, and he said it before they knew they would make it to Milano and she got her citizenship and how they were marked in the current field. Of course Gui wants to stay for another quad, he is younger, it´s his home Olympic. Laurence originally planned to retire after Milano, so i´m not really sure she really wants to since she got the gold now. If she stays for another quad, she will be 37 when retiring. They didn´t say anything about staying until 2030 at the Netflix documentary. One thing that might want them to reconsider staying for 4 more years: They probably didn´t expect to get all this hate and negative comments. The majority of people are not happy or pleased with them even skating together. I´m not sure there has even been such a disliked Olympic gold medalist. When he said he aimed for 2030, he might have forgotten how much work, commitment it takes, and he also hasn´t been pleased with all the bumps they had in the road and scoring system. I would not be surprised if they decided to split/retire after all. Maybe they are taking a hiatus for a season and two and then considering sneaking in again the pre Olympic season
