LOL I hadn't realized she was wearing the painting. Woosh!
It shows that the judges got it wrong. That seems to to be the consensus on here. Is it so hard to believe the judges got it wrong? Even experts aren’t perfect.
I (who is not hardcore into ice dancing) and my casual watcher sibling both felt that P2 were WAY better. It was the only time I really got the feels during this long afternoon. They really told a compelling story which is the purpose of ice dance.

Still papadakis was better, there is a thing about pairs who skate long together, they mirror each other's movements and expressions more.

With Laurence its more theatrics but less fluidity.

Marks

France, Spain, Canada and Czechia for FB/C
Georgia, Finland, USA, Italy and China for C/B
Spanish judge had G/P over C/B.
Italian judge put G/F third over G/P
Canadian judge had G/F 9th
Canadian judge very harsh but oof. P2 got robbed enough so.

Such a high standard from everyone today I enjoyed so many of the performances performances today. So sad for Lilah and Lewis, I hope they keep going for another four years and there is always worlds in March.
I was rooting for Maddie and Evan, thought they were so polished and sharp. Not a fan of the French, he is an amazing skater but too much baggage, plus the style of skating not really my cup of tea.

I've found FB/C's skating mesmerising, their skills are just better than anyone else's and the program itself is superior to C/B. The twizzle got almost a point less for FB/C, but they still got the highest TES and PCS. The French and Canadian judges gave two 10s for FB/C's performance. The was no American judge in the panel, it was very pro-European. After the team event I think it was obvious they would give the French team the gold.

Congrats to C/B and P/G as well!
There was an American actually.

If I were C/B and G/P and rewatching the winning FD one day down the line, I sure as hell wouldn’t be happy either. This may be the sloppiest Olympic winning FD in the history of ice dance. Makes you wonder what back room deal was made to buy this result for France.

Honestly I have only heard that Gui wanted to aim for 2030, and he said it before they knew they would make it to Milano and she got her citizenship and how they were marked in the current field. Of course Gui wants to stay for another quad, he is younger, it´s his home Olympic. Laurence planned to retire after Milano, so i´m not really sure she really wants since she got the gold now. If she stays for another quad, she will be 37 when retiring. They didn´t say anything about staying until 2030 at the Netflix documentary. One thing that might want them to reconsider staying for 4 more years: They probably didn´t expect to get all this hate and negative comments. The majority of people are not happy or pleased with them even skating together. I´m not sure there has even been such a disliked Olympic gold medalist. When he said he aimed for 2030, he might have forgotten how much work, commitment it takes, and he also hasn´t been pleased with all the bumps they had in the road and scoring system. I would not be surprised if they decided to split/retire after all. Maybe they are taking a hiatus for a season and two and then considering sneaking in again the pre Olympic season
Wow.. wonder if she will continue? If not then what will he do? Another partner? Will be interesting 🤔
