Little surprised no has mentioned Joannie Rochette's SP - not for the skate itself but for the fact that her skating it under such circumstances is what the Olympics are all about! For me it was the stand out performance and the one I keep going back to watch, Especially the NBC (?) version where you can hear the crackle in Scott's voice!

That was an admirable performance, but not the best skate in itself, so if I was only able to watch one I'd watch the best skate in itself (which I would say was P/T's LP).

1994: G/G and M/D LP
1998: Tara Lipinski LP, Michelle Kwan SP
2002: Alexei Yagudin SP
2006: this is actually a really tough call as none of the programs have really turned into Legend status. Maybe Sasha Cohen's Dark Eyes SP or Plushenko's programs?
2010: Yuna Kim Gershwin LP and Virtue/Moir's Mahler FD
2014: Davis/White FD, Yuzuru Hanyu SP, Yulia Lipnitskaya Schindler's List LP
