Very correct! For Hanyu with 3 quads and 2 axels (1 quad and 2 axels in the second half) in the FS, and an SP with a quad in the second half, winning overall by 10 points would be a totally fair outcome, even if Chan is undoubtedly the superior overall skater. Nice to see we agree on something, kiddo.

Yup of course, Chan jumps better, his quad sal is amazing, his 3A is to die for, Chan spins better, especially his sit spin, biellman, doughnat , leg over head is for sure better. Chan is even lighter you know he wears S size, also he is more humble for sure and his fans are as amazing as him, Hail to them

tung, I didn't know the word 'rake' (sorry, mother tongue not English) so I googled, and one of the definitions is 'a fashionable or wealthy man of dissolute or promiscuous habits' lol but surely I know what you want to say.
Anyway, I had high hopes for Han Yan, but he keeps disappointing his fans. I wanted him to win SA, but he bombed....again.

Nah, don't worry. "Thin as a rake" is a fairly common expression and compares the person to a garderning tool. The other meanig is completely unrelated and rather old fashioned (I used to see it all the time when I was into reading historical romance novels). Nobody was accusing Yuzu of promiscuous habits.

Hanyu can still win, only 7 points away from all 3 leaders including Patrick at 80... rather poor score for the likes of them by good 10-20 points. :hopelessness:

Yuzu's reaction to his marks was absolutely stellar, nothing ever seems to get that guy down. I love his attitude more and more...

I hope both Patrick and Yuzu can skate lights-out for the Free. --Otherwise I may have to give Figure Skating a break for a few weeks to recover. I know, I invest too much in these guys but they are SO good! They just have to show it. :hopelessness:

i am sure YUZU didn't mean to say it quite like that... or maybe it's lost in translation... but considering all the other skaters there, and all the ones he has had to compete with since Patrick retired... isn't this saying that, without Patrick, there's no competition? Isn't this dismissive to other competitors?


I am doing this, not because I believe that's what he meant... but to show how quotes like these ones have painted a personality of Patrick that some posters here call arrogant... while he isn't... we could do the same about Yuzu and pretty much everyone when reading short quotes like these out of context.

I agree that when taken out of context words can be easily misconstrued. This is why actions often speak louder than words. Even my untrained eye can recognize and appreciate Patrick's talent and beautiful skating however because of this simple action he decided to take I personally could never be a fan. This wasn't posted by the media or anyone else but Patrick himself. And for what purpose? Footage clearly showed this to be an accident and Yuzuru immediately going over to check on him. If Patrick's fans really were inquiring then I'm sure he could've thought of a more mature way to respond. I almost choked when you mentioned "responsibility on social media" after seeing the video Adian posted of Daniel imitating Patrick. I'm not condoning what they did but hope you also had harsh words for Patrick and what is IMO his inappropriate post as well. Speaking of actions speaking louder than words, know what I personally remember most about CoC 2014? Yuzuru looking for Han before the 2nd 6 minute warmup, then visibly upset after realizing a fellow competitor was possibly going to have to withdraw. The friendly, acknowledging handshake in back between these two boys who happen to represent countries with a long standing strained relationship. Then Han using social media for good to firmly put a stop to any nonsense denying the collision was an accident. Inspiring actions by an 18 and 19 year old who were at the time hardly fit to compete. I'm a fan of both Yuzuru and Han not only because I find beauty in their skating but because in my eyes they have proven themselves to be decent young men as well.

Actually talk about the absolute best time for Hanyu's Onmyoji!!!! We need him!!! He to skate first is a very good thing. The rink need a cleanse.

I still think Chan should be ahead pc wise over Hanyu and while in fairness Hanyu has improved or is very good I still think Chan isn't getting fair marks comparatively. Even last year you see Fernadez getting generous pcs. And nowit seems evident the judges .sare dropping Chan to a point and hanyu is being held up - he beat Chan despite Hanyu's problems in the sp. That is a telling sign. although it may be the judges holding Hanyu up so he isn't too far out of the picture with a disastrous short. Still while Chan wasn't great in the sp he was far better and should have been rewarded with a couple point win over Hanyu in the pcs. you can't really say home country cooking here. At SA not only was the competiton far weaker but the judging far more generous especially to the hometown skaters. Everyone complains about national infalition but iti s far worse it p pears in the US. Oh well:

I just watched both short programs and have to say, IMO, Chan's skating skills are far and away better than Hanyu. He's a more mature, polished skater. Hanyu has him in the jumps in that he's more consistent. But - and I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion - Hanyu needs to dump the foo foo costumes, skate to something a little more exciting than classical music, and mature to the next step. I thought Patrick's short program, if skated clean, would go down as one of the best ever. The choreo, the music, all of it was superb in my opinion.

Agree with SkaterBoy about the national inflation and that it wasn't apparent at SC. It's more likely Hanyu was held up so that the LP would be more competitive. Who knows. But I do much prefer Patrick's skating style to Hanyu's.

Seimei and Chopin are both masterpieces, and only Hanyu can pull off his anime outfits. I personally love them. Better than the dad outfit Patrick was wearing.

IMO nobody can do Patrick's short like Patrick can, while Patrick can do Hanyu's Chopin, because it is the most Patrick type of program Hanyu has had. (Hanyu's amazing glorious 3A aside ofcourse!)
PChiddy was only off timing in the last 3 seconds which is amazing consider the relentless energy require by the music and upbeat tempo and he didn't let the mistakes affect the rest of the performance too much. Their PCS is practically equalised anyway, so it just come down to tech which is fair.
