See, this was all before the big "Crumble" heard round the world. Cookie was tired of finishing second or below Sliced Bread because she wasn't refined enough, so her bodyguard, Sourdoug, whacked Sliced Bread with a rolling pin. Sliced Bread recovered, in time to finish second to Glazed, who loves the donut spin.

Firstly - HUGE apologies Toni - i meant to say hello all in one go and didn't manage it....(OT but GS seems to be running quite slowly for me now...perhaps it's because i'm not permanantly on here all the time!)

I was going to say a huge thank you to everyone for making this thread finally more worthwile in discussions on sliced bread et al but for goodness sake won't somebody please clarify whether Sliced Bread would be able to beat Orindary Loaf in her prime?????

I did wonder if my sanity is better kept not posting on FS boards when my first few posts back seemed to be....an uphill struggle....let's say! But actually i've missed it!

I promise to try to be more active now my feet are more permanently under the desk in my new job!

Seniorita - poptarts are IMO weird, they're too sweet and burn you easily. I've had toaster food that was ham and cheese filled which I thought were better! I also loved your confusion about Pang and Tong and pop tart as I did a similar double take when i read it

At face value, I would agree with the earlier posters point relating to the prestige of the titles that were won and the dominance that was displayed that count for more (IIRC, it was PangTongFan). However, with the exception of perhaps Witt and Yamaguchi, the technical level (particurally jumps and spins) attained by these skaters when they dominated/won prestigous titles I think is less than today. I would argue that it is possible that todays skaters are more lyrical than Witt and Yamaguchi but would conceed that a great many others disagree.

I agree with Witt. But she had beauty and charisma and she was a great competitor. Kristi was also pretty good but her artistic side really shone after she went professional. However, there was also Janet Lynn whose lyrical qualities far exceeds many skaters competing today.

that's somewhat true... we had a squirrel swim in pancake batter one time and they were some of the most awesome pancakes ever

then again there were some concoctions the boys came up with that brought on projectile vommitting soon after eating it...

This made me go back to look at some of their best programs, and for me Kwan triumphs over Kim. Kwan's obvious technical disadvantage is not that significant as one may think -- a 7 triple jump program including a triple toe-triple toe and two double axels is not that much less than a 6 triple jump program with a triple flip-triple toe and no triple loop and 3 double axels. But the artistic component of our sport, can offset technical advantages. The second mark is relative, skating against Kwan, Kim's second mark may not be as astronomical. And of course, some judges/fans/posters would agree and some would disagree.

For me, at its best:
Kwan's Salome is more passionate and expressive than Kim's Scheherzade
Kwan's Song of the Black Swan is more joyous and charming than Kim's Gershwin
Kwan's Lyra Angelica is more serene and elegant than Kim's The Lark Ascending

Actually I was watching my all time fav Tosca of Michelle and to be on topic, I think if they skated together in the same era, Yuna would be maybe the wow factor and could have won but Michelle would still warm my heart, on the second mark I think Michelle would have no comparison cause she has something that gets you involved, she is expressive, soulful and you cant but skate with her.
Or it is that Michelle skated a long time of my skating fandom and I have nostalgia for the oldies
It is good thing they dont compete together anyway.

my mom think michelle could be yu-na , in her opinion when michelle skated in her show last year (the year of the olympics-she thought she did better than yu-na did. )why
even though she did skate a lot her jumps weren't bad, yu-na was a bit ur-. yu-na clean them up after that. and also michelle showed more presentation, musicality than yu-na.
for me as i stated earlier, you can compare between the two.
as far as the thread goes. it maininly means. you like. prefer yu-na, or you like and prefer michelle.

yu-na and michelle both has advantages and disadvantages. but skating together in shows, you can see they are about alike. one is younger, competed, skated often. the other older, more mature, has skating quality and skill that you can see were there. so you don't know. you just prefer. both are good, great skaters. why go back, just enjoy both.
