Trialeti Trophy Senior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Liza finished 12th out of 25 in the SP, with a score of 51.22.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Trialeti Trophy, as I was concentrating on the Junior Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

Looking at the Protocols, there were issues with three elements, but they only tell us what the issue was for two of them. The opening element, the Triple Lutz, was under-rotated. It got the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.89. It also got -5 from Judge 5; and -4 from the remaining six Judges.

I don't know what happened the second element, the Double Axel, but it got the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.66. In terms of Judges marks, it got two -3's; three -2's; and two -1's.

The fourth element was the Triple Flip-Double Toe, and the first part didn't have a clear edge. It got the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.53. But because it had by far the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. It got -2 from Judge 6; and -1 from the remaining six Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.30 for the fifth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, to 0.52 for the sixth element, the Flying Camel Spin. Apart from a 0 from Judge 2 for the aforementioned Flying Camel Spin, and two +3's from Judge 4 for the final two elements, all of the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were +1 or +2.

I should add, Liza had a higher Programme Components Score than the five skaters directly ahead of her, as well as the skater directly behind her. This is probably a sign that she could have been a lot higher, but for those mistakes.

Liza is currently 0.16 points behind 11th position, Olivia LISKO (FIN), and 0.47 points ahead of 13th position, Stefania YAKOVLEVA (CYP). All three of them are part of a group of 13 skaters covered by 9.52 points, stretching from Iida KARHUNEN (FIN) in 7th position, 5.51 points ahead of Liza, down to Nargiz SUELEYMANOVA (AZE) in 19th position, 4.01 points behind Liza.

My kids went back-to-back in the Short Programme, and now they are going to go back-to-back again in the Free Skate! :drama:

In a group this big, anything can happen. If she has a good Free Skate, Liza could potentially make it well into the Top 10. If she doesn't, she potentially could slip down to the bottom of the teens.

So, we need her to have a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 13:30:00 GET (09:30:00 GMT / 10:30:00 BST / 12:30:00 EEST / 12:30:00 MSK / 13:30:00 GST). So 5 hours from now.

Liza will be the 14th skater to start. So, fourth and penultimate skater to go in Group 3 (and fourth skater to go after the first resurfacing).

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 15:14:40 GET (11:14:40 GMT / 12:14:40 BST / 14:14:40 EEST / 14:14:40 MSK / 15:14:40 GST). So 6h 44m from now.

Liza is due to start at 15:44:10 GET (11:44:10 GMT / 12:44:10 BST / 14:44:10 EEST / 14:44:10 MSK / 15:44:10 GST). So 7h 14m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Liza finished 18th out of 25 in the FS, with a score of 90.57. This meant that she dropped to 18th position overall, with a score of 141.79.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Tayside Trophy, as I was watching the penultimate round of the World Superbikes from Portugal.

Looking at the Protocols, and they are not pretty. She had a rough patch at the start of the programme, and then another rough patch at the start of the second half. And an invalid element in between.

I won't go through the programme in detail. I'll just select a couple of things to mention. She attempted two Triple Lutzes during the programme, and both were under-rotated. She fell on the first, and wasn't able to attach another jump onto the end of the second. As a result, it got called as a repeated element. These were also the elements that got the two biggest GOE hits, with -2.36 for the one she fell on, and -1.23 for the other.

The forrth element was an Axel attempt that was invalidated.

On the more positive side of things, immediately before the invalid Axel, she did a Triple Flip-Double Axel in sequence. It got the highest GOE of the programme, at +0.64. And because it had by miles the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained the highest scoring element of the programme.

Liza finished the Free Skate 2.19 points behind 17th position, Kristina ŠKULETA-GROMOVA (EST), and 2.64 points ahead of 19th position, Eliška BŘEZINOVÁ (CZE).

Overall, Liza finished level on points with 17th position, Škuleta-Gromova. Liza and Kristina are 5.15 points behind 16th position, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (LTU), and 0.61 points ahead of 19th position, Březinová.

Wow. I don't know what is going on. It had never happened before this season, but this is the fourth time that one of my kids have been level on points with somebody else. On the previous occasions, it was in the segment results. But this is the first time it has happened with the overall results.

Getting back to the skating, it was not a good outing for Liza. Too many mistakes across the two programmes.

So, that is now two Challenger events that Liza has done, and two where she has made a lot of mistakes. You know, it's unfortunate that the Cup Of Isreal doesn't start earlier, because I think she could have done with having some competitive outings before heading to the Challengers.

And on that note, Liza will be competing in the first round of the Cup Of Israel in just over two weeks time. For the first time in a while, she will have competition in the form of Mariia DMITRIEVA. So, hopefully this will help her.

Liza will be kicking off her Cup Of Israel campaign today at her club's rink in Eilat, Southern District.

The Senior Ladies SP is due to start at some time today. But I have no idea when, because this is a backdated post and I don't have the Time Schedule link (there is no timetable on the Entries / Results page).

Liza will be the 1st skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 1.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Cup Of Israel Round 1 (Eilat) Senior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Liza finished 1st out of 2 in the SP, with a score of 47.54.

Unfortunately I completely forgot about the Cup Of Israel starting this week.

Looking at the Protocols, Liza had two issues. Firstly, her opening Triple Lutz was downgraded. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.77, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from two Judges; and -3 from Judge 2.

The fourth element had a multitude of issues. It was supposed to be a Triple Flip with another jump attached onto the end of it. But, she under-rotated it, landed on the wrong edge, and fell. Consequently, it had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.59. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all three Judges.

As for the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.44 for the second element, the Double Axel, to +0.64 for the third element, the Flying Camel Spin. All the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were +1 or +2.

Liza is currently 5.68 points ahead of 2nd position, Maria DMITRIEVA (KFA). There are no other entries

The lead that Liza has after the SP should be more than enough to get her over the line and win the first round of the Cup Of Israel. However, she can't afford to rest in her laurels. Ice is slippery. Plus, she needs to have a good score to boost her confidence. It has been nearly a full calendar year since she got a TSS in triple figures in the FS. Since the last edition of this event, actually.

So, let's hope she does get a good score!

Cup Of Israel Round 1 (Eilat) Senior Ladies: Results

No video uploaded yet 😞

Liza finished 1st out of 1 in the FS, with a score of 88.67. This meant that she remained in 1st position overall, with a score of 136.21.

Unfortunately I completely forgot about the Cup Of Israel starting this week.

Looking at the Protocols, Liza had quite a few issues. There were six elements with negative GOE and negative Judges marks. And they were nicely grouped into two bad patches, each consisting of three elements.

The first bad patch was right at the start. First she singled the Lutz; then she landed her Triple Loop on the quarter; then she did a Triple Flip-Double Toe where the Flip was landed on the quarter. Of these, the Triple Loop was the most costly, with the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.96; and -4 from all three Judges.

The second bad patch was at the start of the second half of the programme. First she singled the Salchow; then she did a sequence of a Triple Lutz followed by an Axel that was singled; then she did a Triple Flip-Double Salchow where the Flip was under-rotated and the Salchow was invalidated. Of these, the combination jump at the end was the most costly, with the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.70. It also got Judges marks of -5 from Judge 1; -4 from Judge 3; and -3 from Judge 2.

All in all, the GOE for the elements in these two bad patches ranged from -1.96 for the second element, the Triple Loop, to -0.08 for the opening element, the Single Lutz. And the Judges marks ranged from -5 to -1.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.23 for the final element, the Flying Change Foot Combination Spin, to +0.83 for the sixth element, the Choreographic Sequence. Apart from a +3 from Judge 3 for the penultimate element, the Step Sequence, all the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were in the 0 to +2 range.

Maria DMITRIEVA (KFA) withdrew between the SP and the FS, so Liza was the only skater to contest the FS.

I am getting concerned. Liza's FS score here was similar to what she scored at the Ondrej Nepela Memorial Trophy a month ago. So, she isn't even getting a home ice boost here.

And the fact that Dmitrieva withdrew may not have helped. Liza could have been doing with having somebody pushing her in the FS. Then again, the pressure of having somebody skating against her might have pushed Liza into making more mistakes. We just don't know.

But, at the end of the day, it's another 🥇 Gold Medal.

And she will not have long to wait before she is in action again. This Saturday, in fact. She will be taking part in the Tirnavia Trophy in Trnava, Slovakia, just four days after the FS in Eilat. So, hopefully being in a bigger field will help her.

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

Apologies for forgetting about the first round of the Cup Of Israel at the start of the week. Liza won both segments and overall. She was unopposed in the FS, as Maria DMITRIEVA (KFA) withdrew between the SP and the FS.

But, just four days after the FS in Eilat, Liza will be back in action today at the Tirnavia Cup in Trnava, Slovakia.

The Senior Ladies SP is due to start at 17:35:00 CET (16:35:00 GMT / 18:35:00 EET / 19:35:00 MSK). So 8 hours from now.

Liza will be the 9th and antepenultimate skater to start. So, ninth and antepenultimate skater to go in Group 2.

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 18:11:30 CET (17:11:30 GMT / 19:11:30 EEST / 20:11:30 MSK). So 8h 36m from now.

Liza finished 7th out of 10 in the SP, with a score of 44.65.

Here is what I wrote about the Warm-Up in the competition thread:

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

The only other person commenting during Day 3 was our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, who said:

Looking at the Protocols, there were three elements with issues. The three jumps early on in the programme that I flagged up at the time. So, she wasn't called up for the Flying Camel Spin, which is a relief.

The opening element, the Triple Lutz, was actually supposed to be done in combination. But because it was landed on the quarter and she fell, she wasn't able to attach anything onto the end of it. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.95. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

Although the Protocols don't say what was wrong with the second element, the Double Axel, I did in my comment. She only just about landed it. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.99, which made it the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from all five Judges.

The fourth element, the Triple Flip, didn't have a clear edge, and she fell. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.65, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it was actually the third highest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.37 for the third element, the Flying Camel Spin, to +0.66 for the penultimate element, the Step Sequence. Apart from two +3's that Judge 4 gave for the final two elements, the Step Sequence and the Layback Spin, all the Judges marks for these elements were +1 or +2.

Liza is currently 0.17 points behind 6th position, Julia GRABOWSKI (DEU), and 11.62 points ahead of 8th position, Simona KOLENÁKOVÁ (SVK). Liza is the bottom skater in a group of 3 skaters covered by 1.46 points, which is headed by Terézia PÓCSOVÁ (SVK) in 5th position.

To be honest, although strictly speaking the gap ahead of Pócsová is more than my 2 point guide for defining groups, I would be more inclined say that Liza is the bottom skater in a group of 4 skaters covered by 3.52 points, which is headed by Chiara MINIGHINI (ITA) in 4th position.

Although she ended the SP further down the order than she would have liked, Liza is in a good position. She has three skaters within striking distance ahead of her, and a massive gap behind her. She has nothing to lose. She can go all out to try to climb up the order. With a good Free Skate, she could potentially get as high as 4th position.

So, let's hope she does have a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 11:20:00 CET (10:20:00 GMT / 12:20:00 EET / 13:20:00 MSK). So 5 hours from now.

Liza will be the 4th skater to start. So, fourth and penultimate skater to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 11:20:00 CET (10:20:00 GMT / 12:20:00 EET / 13:20:00 MSK). So 5 hours from now.

Liza is due to start at 11:50:00 CET (10:50:00 GMT / 12:50:00 EET / 13:50:00 MSK). So 5h 30m from now.

Liza finished 4th out of 10 in the FS, with a score of 93.32. This meant that she climbed to 4th position overall, with a score of 137.97.

After failing miserably the previous day, I didn't even attempt to try to spot her during the Warm-Up.

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

Liza then started climbing up the order. Later on in my post about the programme by Chiara MINIGHINI (ITA), I said:

Unfortunately, nobody else was commenting during the final day of the event.

Looking at the Protocols, there were a lot more issues than I thought. The programme was actually balanced in this regard: there were six elements with positive GOE and no negative Judges marks; and six elements with negative GOE and no positive Judges marks.

Since there were more issues than I was expecting, I will just go through the elements for which the Protocols tell us what the issue was.

The first issue came with the second element, the Triple Loop, which was under-rotated. It had the fourth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.78. It also got -3 from Judge 1; and -2 from the remaining four Judges.

In the third element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe, the Flip didn't have a clear edge and was landed on the quarter. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.77, but because it had the third highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the third highest scoring element of the programme. In terms of Judges marks, it got two -4's; and three -3's.

The seventh element was the Salchow that she singled out. It had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.17, and because it had the lowest est Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. Despite this, it had the second worst set of Judges marks, with -5 from two Judges; -4 from two Judges; and -3 from Judge 5.

The eighth element, the Triple Lutz, was the one she fell on. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.95. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

In the ninth element, the Triple Flip-Half Loop-Double Salchow, the Flip didn't have a clear edge and was under-rotated. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.41, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. In terms of Judges marks, it got three -4's; and two -3's.

For the elements with positive GOE, the range was from +0.13 for the tenth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, to +0.79 for the opening element, the Triple Lutz-Double Axel done in sequence. And because this squence had by far the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained the highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges marks for these six elements ranged from 0 to +2.

Liza finished the Free Skate 2.60 points behind 3rd position, Nina POVEY (GBR), and 5.51 points ahead of 5th position, Chiara MINIGHINI (ITA).

Overall, Liza finished 11.60 points behind 3rd position, Povey, and 1.99 points ahead of 5th position, Minighini.

After the SP, it was clear that the podium was out of reach and 4th position would be the best that Liza could hope for. And 4th position is exactly what she got! She did a great job climbing up the order to be best of the rest after the Medallists.

But the more important thing is that she was able to put Tuesday's disaster skate behind her and get a much better score the very next time she did that Free Skate, just a few days later.

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

Golden Spin Of Zagreb Senior Ladies: Results

Liza finished 14th out of 30 in the FS, with a score of 99.14. This meant that she climbed to 12th position overall, with a score of 150.83.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, as I was concentrating on the Grand Prix Final and the final round of the Formula 1.

Looking at the Protocols, there were six elements with negative GOE and six elements with positive GOE. However, crucially, unlike the skaters either side of her who made fewer mistakes, Liza did not have any falls. The Protocols only tell us what happened with four of the elements, so I will focus in on them.

In the third element, the Triple Flip-Double Axel done in sequence, the Double Axel was landed on the quarter. It had the joint second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.95, but because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it five -2's; and two -1's.

In the seventh element, the Triple Salchow-Half Loop-Double Salchow, the Triple Salchow was landed on the quarter. It had the joint second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.95, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from two Judges; -2 from four Judges; and -1 from Judge 1.

In the eighth element, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe, the Triple Lutz was under-rotated. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.94, but because it had the third highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the third highest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from Judge 7; and -2 from the remaining six Judges.

The ninth element, the Triple Flip, was under-rotated. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.10, which meant it went from having the fifth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fifth lowest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it four -3's; and three -2's.

There were no elements with neutral GOE, so we move straight onto some of the elements with positive GOE.

The second element, the Triple Loop, had the joint third highest GOE of the programme, at +0.49. This meant it went from having the fourth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the second highest scoring element of the programme. It got 0 from Judge 6; +1 from five Judges; and +2 from Judge 4.

The sixth element, the Choreographic Sequence, had the highest GOE of the programme, at +0.90, which meant that it went from having the third lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the fifth highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it two +1's; and five +2's.

And just to further show how balanced her programme was, her Technical Elements Score was only 0.10 higehr than her Programme Components Score.

Liza finished the Free Skate 0.01 points behind 13th position, Ava Marie ZIEGLER (AUT), and 6.32 points ahead of 15th position, Niki WORIES (NED). Liza is the bottom skater in a group of 4 skaters covered by 1.45 points, which stretches up to Anastasia GRACHEVA (MDA) in 11th position.

Overall, Liza finished 0.15 points behind 13th position, Ziegler, and 1.15 points ahead of 15th position, Gracheva.

I hadn't actually noticed it before, but Liza and her team seem to be using the tactic of having quite a few elements with high Base Values, with the result being that if she has issues with them, they still score high. And that is what happened here.

Well, we don't have long to wait until we see Liza in action again. Just four days after doing her FS in Zagreb, she will be doing her SP again in Holon, because Nationals gets under way on Wednesday.

Liza finished 2nd out of 4 in the SP, with a score of 52.97.

Unfortunately, I didn't realise that the Israel Championships were on until skater was over for the day. And I haven't had a chance to watch the archived livestream yet.

Looking at the Protocols, Liza only had two issues.

In the first element, the Triple Lutz-Triple Toe, the Triple Toe was downgraded, and she fell. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.95, which meant that it went from having the highest BAse Vaklue of the programme, to being the second higest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges

The fourth element, the Triple Flip, didn't have a clear edge. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.18, but because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it two -1's; and three 0's.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.33 for the second element, the Double Axel, to +0.70 for the fifth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin. The Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +3.

Liza is currently 9.40 points behind 1st position, Maria SENIUK (Ice Peaks Holon), and 2.90 points ahead of 3rd position, Maria DMITRIEVA (Kfar Saba).

When you compare the tables for Liza and Seniuk, there is hardly any difference in their Programme Components Scores, or in the total Base Values of their programmes. It is the GOE that made the difference. Part of this was down to the fact that Liza made two mistakes, whereas Seniuk only made one mistake (yet still got positive GOE on that element. You'd almost think this competition was being held at her club. Oh, wait. It is! ). But, even when you take out the combination jump and the Triple Flip from both programmes, Seniuk's GOE was still higher than Liza's GOE for the remaining elements.

Being realistic, the only way Liza can win this is if Seniuk withdraws. The gap between them is just far too big to overcome. But, Liza still needs to put in a good Free Skate to keep Dmitrieva at bay.

So, let's hope that she does!

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies SP is due to start at 17.00:00 EET (15.00:00 GMT / 18.00:00 MSK). So 9 hours from now.

Liza will be the 3rd and penultimate skater to start. So, third and penultimate skater to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 17.00:00 EET (15.00:00 GMT / 18.00:00 MSK). So 9 hours from now.

And that is as much as I can tell you, because the Entries / Results pages used for the Israeli competitions do not have Time Schedule PDF's.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Hope this helps

Liza finished 3rd out of 4 in the FS, with a score of 93.78. This meant that she dropped to 3rd position overall, with a score of 146.75.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Israel Championships, as I was concentrating on the Spanish Championships. And I haven't had a chance to watch the archived livestream yet.

Looking at the Protocols, Liza didn't have the best of skates. Two falls, and issues with three other elements.

In the opening element, the Triple Lutz-Triple Toe, the Triple Toe was downgraded. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.77, but because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as teh highest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from Judge 4; -3 from three Judges; and -2 from Judge 2.

She fell on the third element, the Triple Flip. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.65, which meant that it went from having the fourth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

In the seventh element, the Triple Salchow-Half Loop-Double Salchow, the Triple Salchow was under-rotated. It had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.69, and because it had the third highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the third higehst scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from Judge 3; -2 from three Judges; and -1 from Judge 5.

The eighth element, the Triple Lutz, was downgraded and she fell. it had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.05, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

In the ninth eIement, the Triple Flip-Double Toe, the Triple Flip didn't have a clear edge and was under-rotated. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.56, which meant that it went from having the second highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fourth highest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from three Judges; -3 from Judge 1; and -2 from Judge 2.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.20 for the final element, the Flying Change Foot Combination Spin, to +0.49 for the second element, the Triple Loop. The aforementioned Triple Loop had the fifth higherst Base Value of the programme, which meant that it became the second highest scoring element of the programme. Apart from a -1 from Judge 2 for the aforementioned Flying Change Foot Combination Spin, and a +3 from Judge 1 for the penultimate element, the Step Sequence, all the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were in the 0 to +2 range.

Liza finished the Free Skate 3.12 points behind 2nd position, Maria DMITRIEVA (Kfar Saba), and 33.65 points ahead of 4th position, Julia FENNEL (Ice Peaks Holon).

Overall, Liza finished 0.22 points behind 2nd position, Dmitrieva, and 52.34 points ahead of 4th position, Fennel.

Without doubt it was the mistakes that cost Liza second position. The total Base Value of Dmitrieva's programme was 3.10 points lower than the total Base Value for Liza's programme. But whereas Dmitrieva gained 2.57 points through GOE, Liza lost 5.45 points through GOE. And although Liza scored 3.80 points more than Dmitrieva in Programme Components Score, it and the advantage from the SP was not enough to hold onto 2nd position.

The total Base Value of Liza's programme is only 0.94 point lower than the Base Value of Seniuk's programme. If Liza can eliminate the mistakes, she should be able to be right up with her.

I'm not sure when Liza is back in action again, be it internationally or domestically. For that matter, I don't know when the next round of the Cup Of Israel is. But, I hope that by the time of her next competition, Liza will have sorted out the things she has been having problems with, and can remind us of just what she is capable of.

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

Liza is back in action today at the Volvo Open Cup, in Riga, Latvia.

The Senior Ladies SP is due to start at 17:50:00 EET (15:50:00 GMT / 18:50:00 MSK). So 10 hours from now.

Liza will be the 6th skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 2.

And that is as much as I can tell you, because Time Schedule PDF's are not working.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Liza finished 3rd out of 11 in the SP, with a score of 58.04.

Unfortunately, despite writing the reminder post in advance on Wednesday night before because I knew I would be going straight into watching 4 Continents when I got up in the morning, I forgot all about Liza being in action by the time Thursday arrived. And forgot to post the reminder. :drama:

However, I have gone back and watched the start of Group 2 on the archived livestream. So here is the sort of comment I would have written about the Warm-Up if I had been watching LIVE:

The first two skaters out of the gate were both wearing peach dresses. But the first girl was wearing a black jacket over it, while the second was wearing a blue jacket. And from memory I think Liza's jacket is blue.

Not that it mattered, because when I spotted her for definite not long into the warm-up, she was not wearing her jacket.

This is not a great camera angle for seeing things, as it only shows a small area in the middle of the rink. Nevertheless, we saw Liza do a lovely jump early on.

Later on, we saw her doing some stretches going away from the camera.

And shortly before the 1 minute warning, we saw her heading towards the boards.

During the last minute, we saw her go through shot briefly. And then a while later, we saw her coming back to go to the boards, presumably to get ready for doing her programme.

And that is now.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST LIZA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is the sort of comment I would have written about her programme if I had been watching LIVE:

I could barely hear the music when she was doing her opening choreography.

Opening Triple Lutz good.

And so was the Double Axel that was next!

Beautiful Flying Camel Spin

Combination jump beautiful, but not sure if she was fully round on the second part.

Change Foot Combination Spin beautiful, even if the camera operator was caught out by her step to the side in the middle.

Step Sequence beautiful, although the music was distorting badly on the stream.

And a beautiful Layback Spin to finish with.

Her celebrations as she was getting up from her finishing position said everything!

And then she realised that she was out of breath!

Big hug with her coach, who was very happy too.

They were chatting and smiling away while waiting for the scores.

She goes into 2nd position.

They are happy with that!

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

The only member that commented about Liza in the competition thread was our bastion of positivity, Jeanie19, who said:

Looking at the Protocols, Liza only had one issue. And it didn't have any effect on anything. In her fourth element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe, the Triple Flip didn't have a clear edge. It had neautral GOE, but because it had the highet Basae Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from Judge 1; and 0 from the remaining four Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.39 for the opening element, the Triple Lutz, to +0.64 for the third element, the Flying Camel Spin. The Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +3.

Liza is currently 0.42 points behind 2nd position, Selma VALITALO (FIN), and 2.21 points ahead of 4th position, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (LTU). Liza is the bottom skater in a group of 3 skaters covered by 0.88 points, which is headed by Nataly LANGERBAUR (EST) in 1st position.

And this is a new absolute Personal Best score for the Short Programme, exceeding her previous best SP score fron 2022 Nationals!!!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

I am wary of saying this because of how things have gone earlier in the season, but Liza could win this. However, she needs to have a good Free Skate, because Variakojytė is within striking distance. And she has been having a good season so far.

So, let's hope Liza has a good Free Skate and can move up.

Liza finished 3rd out of 11 in the FS, with a score of 107.05. This meant that she remained in 3rd position overall, with a score of 165.09.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

Nobody else was commenting today.

Looking at the Protocols, Liza had issues with five elements.

The second element, the Triple Loop, was landed on the quarter. It had the fourth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.98, which meant that it went from having the fifth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the sixth lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -2 from four Judges; and -1 from Judge 5.

In the third element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe, the Triple Flip didn't have a clear edge and was landed on the quarter. It had the joint second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.41, but because it had the third highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the third highest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from four Judges; and -2 from Judge 3.

The seventh element, the Double Salchow, was downgraded. It had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.38, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from three Judges; -3 from Judge 3; and -2 from Judge 2.

The eight element, the Triple Lutz, had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.77. This meant that it went from having the fourth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fourth highest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from all five Judges.

In the ninth element, the Triple Flip-Half Loop-Double Salchow, the Triple Flip was landed on the quarter. It had the joint second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.41, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from Judge 2; -3 from two Judges; and -2 from two Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.11 for the fourth element, the Double Axel, to +1.00 for the sixth element, the Choreographic Step Sequence. The opening element, the Triple Lutz-Double Axel done in sequence, had the highest Base Value of the programme, which meant that it remained the highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +3.

Liza finished the Free Skate 2.29 points behind 2nd position, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (LTU), and 9.00 points ahead of 4th position, Selma VALITALO (FIN).

Overall, Liza finished 0.08 points behind 2nd position, Variakojytė, and 8.58 points ahead of 4th position, Valitalo.

This was the first time since the first round of the Cup Of Israel in November 2024 that Liza had scored over 100 points in the Free Skate. So, no wonder she was so delighted with the score!

After the season Liza has had so far, this result was just what was needed!

Looking at the Protocols, Liza only had two issues. But they were both costly issues.

She fell on the first element, the Triple Lutz. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.95, which meant that it went from having the highest Base Value of the programme, to being the lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

In the sixth element, the Triple Flip-Single Toe, the Triple Flip was landed on the quarter, and the Single Toe was an invalid element. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.65, which meant that it went from having the second highest Base Value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges. It also got -5 from all five Judges.

Gor the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.23 for the fifth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, to +0.66 for the second element, the Double Axel. This meant that the Double Axel went from having the joint third lowest Base Value to being the highest scoring element of the programme. Apart from a 0 from Judge 1 for the aforementioned Change Foot Combination Spin, all the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were +1 or +2.

Liza is currently 0.34 points behind 3rd position, Tara PRASAD (IND), and 4.91 points ahead of 5th position, Olesja LEONOVA (EST).

Liza is in a very good position here. She is breathing down the neck of the girl directly in front of her; is only 2.61 points behind the girl two positions ahead of her, Nikola FOMCHENKOVA (LAT) in 2nd position; and has a good amount of breathing space behind her. So, she can concentrate on having a good Free Skate, and trying to not just get a medal, but to be runner-up.

So, let's hope Liza has a good Free Skate and can move up.

Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

She fell on the seventh element, the Triple Salchow. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.15, which meant it went from having the second highest Base Value, to being the fifth lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

The eighth element, the Triple Lutz, was downgraded. It had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.77, and because it had the fourth lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the fouth lowest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it three -4's, and two -3's.

The ninth element, the Triple Flip, was downgraded, and she fell. It had the second smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.90, which meant it went from having the third lowest GOE of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

The third element, the Single Flip-Double Toe, had neautral GOE. This meant it went from having the second lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the fourth lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from Judge 3, and 0 from the remaining four Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.44 for the fourth element, the Double Axel, to +0.70 for the tenth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin. All the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were in the 0 to +3 range.

Liza finished the Free Skate 1.02 points behind 4th position, Olesja LEONOVA (EST), and 10.38 points ahead of 6th position, Linda DZERVE (LAT).

Overall, Liza finished 17.23 points behind 3rd position, Nikola FOMCHENKOVA (LAT), and 8.58 points ahead of 4th position, Valitalo.

You know, when you compare the Total Base Value of the programme with the Total Technical Elements Score, the difference isn't actually as big as I was expecting. In fact, apart from the winner of the FS whose Total TES was much higher than her Total Base Value, all of the skaters had roughly the same difference.

So, the mistakes Liza made weren't actually as costly as I feared they would be.

Although she didn't get onto the podium like I hoped, she didn't lose any positions either. Proper damage limitation. So, she should be pleased with that.
