I think Toni is correct. It will be judged honestly. However, without bias there will be some with a personal favorite. They are human.
The scores and the comparisons will be interesting and would be even more if we knew who the judges were.

I guess I am a minority of one, but I don't see any evidence that USFS likes Evan any better than Johnny, and certainly none whatever that they are bound and determined to make Evan national champion even if they have to cheat to do it. How could that be good for the reputation of figure skating?
As for the argument that they don't like frills and feathers in men's skating, that boat left the dock years ago.
What could be better for the sport than a true rivalry between athletes with contrasting styles and personalities both on and off the ice?

That's the way it seems it will be. This will be a seminal moment (or several seminal minutes anyway) for US FS I believe.
Apart from the result, I'm looking forward to all the post-mortems just as much

You're hardly a minority of one ! While I don't doubt that there are political forces that would be more than happy to see Johnny 'elsewhere', I also haven't seen any evidence of cheating/bribery/corruption in the US FS game.

I really don't think homophobia is an issue in people not liking Johnny. (Frankly, if someone is a homophobe, this is the WRONG sport for them.) I think if the USFSA is in fact biased towards Evan, it's because for all they have been promoting Johnny as the national champion, Evan's the one who has brought it in international competition. Possibly the influence is "What are foriegn judges seeing in Evan and not seeing in Johnny?"

Regardless of sport. I think the big issue is his "not acknowledging" the US and promoting Russia more then his home.

That is the whole point, what Johnny is is what Johnny does.... Of course his "loyalty" issue matters to the USA. :scratch:
Well maybe IF you mean his sexuality, in the case of him being gay or not, this SHOULD NOT matter and I don't think it does either. But considering Johnny's idea of dapper as wearing a CCCP jacket or Russia, while skating for the USA, Yep, that matters. It is a dream ( a nice one that I agree shouldn't but..) that it doesn'nt IMO.

Both Evan and Johnny seems to be in great form, and I look forward to seeing them in long programs. I do agree with SP judging because Johnny was slow during his performance -you can really tell from his spins. If he skated SP with his normal speed, there is no doubt in my mind he would have been a leader after SP. One thing I don't understand is Evan's triple axel. His technique is rather weird and just like Dick Button, I get very surprised that he can land it. What surprises me even more is how it gets ratified. Evan is an excellent skater but his triple axel is not: pre-rotation is no obvious even to naked eyes you don't need slow motion to tell he cheats almost half a turn in the takeoff.

I think you are exactly right. The U.S judges, and probably the USFSA are taking note by now that international judges like Lysacek more then they like Weir, and it is something to take into consideration for sure.

I don't see international judges like Evan better than Johnny. Johnny didn't break through internationally was really because he didn't skate well. If Johnny skated like how he skated at the Nationals, I think he would have won the Olympic medal and the World medal.

I agree with Jennylovskt. I don't think the international judges "like" Evan particularly. If he hits a triple Axel they give him 7.5 points. If he lands a triple Lutz they like him 6.0 points worth.
I think a better question would be, are you aware of what's going on with George Bush? (Personally, I prefer Johnny and Maria.)

you already answered your own question about Johnny's title...
as for Evan and Tanith, I will admit I don't follow skater's love lives very closely (some things should be kept private no matter how much celebrity one has) but the only skater I know Evan was connected with was Jenny Kirk (IIRC, I am extremely nervous for him tonight lol), but that was some time ago now... Tanith dated Canadian Skater Fedor Andreev (Marina Zoueva's son, correct?) for a very long time and broke up with him... last year?
but I'd never heard two of the USFSA's most gorgeous
